What a beautiful tribute to your Mother. I too am adopted but I met my birth mother and 5 other siblings. If that day ever comes for you, you will find a certain peace that you cannot find anywhere else. I believe things happen the way they are intended so if it is destined, you will meet her someday.
I wrote a tribute to my adopted mother should you ever want to take a look at it.
Good luck in the contest! You did a wonderful job and the picture choice was absolutely perfect.

This poem is stunning. To have enough love and fortitude to let a child you have gone through the birth process with go to someone who can give much better care is an ultimate act of love. My stepson was adopted and now he says he has three mother - me, his stepmother, his birth mother Jean and his adoptive mother, Gay. He is a super son to all of us. Your story really hit home with me. Excellent, Excellent ode entry. Best of luck to you. Blessings, Linda

I think you have captured your expereince in an accessible and universal way--and to do so with rhyme and good rhythm is impressive. My one suggestion is is that the line Despite what you have done...is slightly out of rhythm--could be corrected by a comma then "reckless or wild" with another comma at the line break.

Hi Dovy

A beautiful tribute to your birth mother, and one that I hope she can one day read.

You wrote this poem well I thought, although I would have liked to see it separated into stanzas for more ease of reading. That wasn't enough to drop the rating down though!

Your thanks and appreciation for your birth mother's choice shines brightly in this poem, and is something you don't hear about very often; usually it's the other way around: "thanks birth mum for nothing". Well said.

Good luck in the contest! xoxoxoxo

I left it intact as more of a letter, of sorts, that's the only reason I didn't put it in stanzas. Thank you for this generous review. :)

This is just beautiful, ~Dovey, really pulled at my heartstrings. My mom was adopted, so meant a lot to me.
You've done an excellent job conveying love, respect and gratitude - and the rhyme is well done. All the best in the contest.

This is a loving, moving tribute to all parties involved. Somewhere, I think your birth mother had a moment where she smiled for an unknown reason, just felt a soft caress like a breeze, the energy that you released into the world when you wrote this. Wonderful.

What a beautiful tribute and appreciation for the life given you. This tells a beautiful story albeit without all the facts of your coming into being. It is also a great read for someone considering ending the precious gift of life they carry.

This is such a wonderful read I hesitate making any suggestions. It flows very well, the rhyme and meter are to my liking. The only thing I would suggest- -is the print (maybe you used this to be in the form of a letter) In that case it's fine with me. The other suggestion is to leave space between some of the quatrains. Beautiful- -definitely a 6 but I have none to offer. Thank you for this piece.

I've heard of people addressing their birth mothers. I guess it goes either way in whether adopted kids want to meet their real parents. That's almost spooky that you and your real mother share the same middle name.

As for the poem, very touching and the cursive script adds a nice element. Good job.
