I am confused with this one Alvin. You say it is a Spenserian sonnet yet lines 4 and 5 do not link in chain. I was wondering, was this an error? Although the topic expresses truly and delivers a emotional effect I believe you may need to correct that. I make no claim to be an expert in this matter and I do mean well. It is an excellent portrayal of your father. Please, take care.

Thanks; I see what I did. I wrote abab acac cdcd ee; I'll take the designation "Spenserian" off. Thanks for catching that. I truly appreciate it.

You seem to have loved your father very much. He was a kind and gentle soul who lived the Christian faith. I am sure he was not one to spout scripture but showed it through his actions. I thank God for his life.

My father was a kind and wondrous man
Such glorious amazing stories told
Of this humane good man, part of a clan;
His hair was white; his heart was solid gold.
One could not find a finer gentleman--
He lived the Christian life in word and deed.
He helped the poor and needy his life span;
My father taught to love; he did succeed.
Food given those who did not have to plead;
The money loaned in charity to those
Poor abject souls who had yet to succeed;
My father's Southern grace, donating clothes.
He integrated black and brown and white
For in his heart he always saw God's Light.
"Yes to have a father like this is just great.
Lots can be learned from a father like this.
Love and kindness given will be always be
remembered by God."
Wonderful words written
I would suggest you could print these words on a card
to show people. They are beautiful words and written very well."

Thanks for a good review; I am not sure how all these words would fit on a card. I greatly appreciate the six stars.

This is lovely Alvin. Your father sounds like a wonderful man of peace and love. A Christian man who truly believed it was better to give than to receive. You wrote a lovely tribute.

A lovely and well written tribute to a father whom you obviously held in high esteem. You are highly fortunate to have been blessed with a great and noble soul as your father!
I love the closing couplet.
I find nothing to fix.
Bravo.
Warm Regards,

A very well written poem of the author paying tribute to his father. It has a good cadance that leads to a smooth read. It has good imagery and descriptive scheme.

Thanks for a great review; I especially appreciate the comment about cadence. That is one of the hardest elements of poetry for me.

You're welcome. I haven't had a chance to correct my work, but I have your suggestions in my error file. Charlie

Thanks for a great review; I especially appreciate the comment about meter, since that is the element I have to work on the most.

meter is definitely not easy. i have to concentrate on it. LOL i guess that is the point. but it is worth it. always gives it an easier flow. keep up the good work~

Thanks; I was worried exactly about the part you quoted--I wasn't sure it flowed well. You and your six stars have reassured me. Thank you so much.

Alvin, your father sounded like a wonderful man.
It reminds me of my mom she had the kindness heart I ever knew.
Again you have written a poem with a wonderful form ( I always loved a Spenserian sonnet )
thank you for sharing your poetic voice.
