Thanks for an understanding review.

You are always right on the money my friend. I think that when joining a site like this some are not really ready to have their work critizied by others. I believe another repected author put up a piece called Every Word Is Not Sacred on this site, which dealt with the same thing. I know that I (and I will keep this in the I) am trying as much as I can to put down the ego (even though I am still a novice to writing, I have an ego) and learn from others on this site. To do so makes it all the more enjoyable, and guess what, I'm learning!. I believe the Buddhist's have a saying, The truely wise man knows that he knows nothing.
Thanks for the post.

Yes, I believe that is a Buddhist saying. It's been a long time since I taught Buddhism, but I think that's right. Do you know who wrote "Every Word is Not Sacred"? I would like to read it. Thanks for a good review.

"trumped by kindness" an interesting thought. I would consider it a weak "trick" if the use of the trump card, kindness in this case, does not ressult in the acceptance of some sort of learning points by the person whose card (review) is trumped.

You "caught" exactly how I wanted the word "trumped" to be understood; thanks for a good review.

Whoa! This is right out there and in your face. I can very well agree though, Alvin. That is one of the reason's why I don't allow non-member or paying members to review.

For clarification, if you don't allow non-members or paying members to review, whom do you allow to review your work? Thanks for noting the bluntness of the six words. Thanks for a good review.

Alvin, you got this one just right, and I was not really sure about it until I read the foot notes. Now I can relate to this.
I reviewed one lady's poem and I found misspelled words and she used could, would and should so many time my head was spinning. I thought I was helping her by pointing these things out to her. OH, well some people know it all and they
can't learn anything. CS/Pat

Yes, but the ones who stay do learn. I often feel like I am being egotistical when I list my qualifications in my bio, but at least I substantiate my credentials as a writer and a reviewer. I have had several angry responses to subtle professional reviews. As I often say, poetry is not splashing words on a page. Thanks for a very understanding review; I truly appreciate it.

I like this six word story, Alvin, and I like it even better without the notes. Think it needs no explanation and can be true in many a situation. All the best in the contest, Heather

Yes, that's true. I don't like to write author's note, but sometimes people request them. I shall think about taking them down. But so many of us have experienced this of late, that I fell compelled to put them in. Thanks for a good review.

Yes, I know. I was thinking of those reviews when I wrote this. It's odd to me, how some people think they can have no training in a field and still be an expert--I just thank God these people aren't doctors, surgeons, or psychiatrists! Thanks for a good review.

Alvin,
How true this is. I think at first people are harsher, but I think
after awhile they learn by experiencing kind reviews. Thanks for sharing. Good for the six word story.

Yes, that was my point exactly. Thank for "catching that" and for a good review. I truly appreciate it.

Wow this so has me thinking- which is why I like it. I'm not I completely understand it though. Are you saying that an inflated ego- is caused by- kindness? That would imply that the person with the ego didn't recognize kindness. But the word you used was "Trumpeted" which implies that give a little kindness and it will be the backdrop so to speak for someone to develop a large ego.
I'll be thinking about this one and I LOVE it when that happens
Good job!

I believe I used "trumped", did I not? That's a term from the card game "bridge." It means "wins over, takes, overs, is stronger than." What I meant to say is that when someone with an inflated ego reviews one's work, the best response is one of kindness. I am sorry that didn't come through. Thanks for a good review that made me think, as well.

Wowee! no it was my bad you are right you said trumped- which I understand the term.
Wonder where I was that I would see that? Got me thinking AGAIn so thanks!

Hi Alvin
No truer word has been said. What you say seems to incorporate "take what you dish out" and "an iron fist in a velvet glove" at the same time. If only those who this is written for took notice! Great work, and very well said! Good luck! xoxoxoxo

Exactly. But sometimes those who commit the error one of which one is writing seldom look in the literary mirror. Thanks for a great review.
