Well said. People do tend to get caught up in the stupidest competitions. You've pretty much summed it up here. Reminds me of the sentiments in the poem The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer. What is more important?

The lines inference is only glorified by the note that you attach to it Well done. I also liked the way that you mentioned stars, Nice touch. It made me think of the old saying, "He who dies with the most toys wins." Actually the way I think it should goe is, "He who dies with the most toys loses the most when he realizes that you can't take it with you, and then feels guilty in the afterlife as he watches all his relatives have to sort through his crap."
