Hello Friend! I rarely ever make a public political statement...but I couldn't resist! Thank you so much! diane

Well! You may have the count right (except for the 4th line in which you have 6 syllables), but it just did not sound right for me.
Some people find limericks easy to write, but I think they are a real challenge. Good luck in the contest. Pollyanne

Hey Polly!
Thanks for stopping by. There are 6 syllables in the 3rd and 4th lines; there are ten syllables in lines 1, 2, and 5. Problem? Limericks do not have to emply equal syllable counts in each line - as I shared in my example in my Author Notes from Edward Lear. Sorry you didn't enjoy... it was great fun to pen. diane

Ah, yes. Having gentle, congenial tea with a politician paints an incongruous picture in my mind. Your limerick was funny and very timely. Best of luck in the contest with these clever 5 line. Blessings, Linda

Why is bill in quotes? Does it mean something we are not aware of? The second line feels off in its rythm.
I like the giggle of it - very much in the tradition of limericks that make us laugh,

Thank you for sharing. This is good. I love the changes you have made compared to the original and find it rather witty. I love the way you ended it. The imagery that comes through as you read is quite cheeky and whimsical and was thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you again for sharing and blessings to you

I could understand the word 'crumbill' for a while until I see that they are two words with the 'bill' finally stuck on you. A very good limerick, very close to the originals with a touch of your own ingenuity. Love the poem.
