This is beautiful!
You have really distilled an important part of life, a dark part that most fear and run from, including myself. Occasionally, I have demons I run from, and having a good friend like you is priceless. There is a harsh side of life, and those willing to help others get through their difficulties make the world a wonderful place.
My best wishes to your friend! Keep helping; he will get better. :)

That's a tough place to be in, Jan. To know that you have friends who are hurting so much, and only two things can take away that pain: Time and God. I hope your friend will allow his personal pain the time it needs to heal, and then let God do His job.
Hugs,
Renie

Janilou,
I was suicidal from the age of eleven. It is a very hard path. I am so sorry to hear that your friend is hurting. I hope that they do not do anything. Time heals all wounds.
The theme was very good. I am sorry that it is sad. Tell your friend that a rainbow will always appear after a storm.
The arrangement was done well. The formatting looked good.
There was no SPAG. No room for improvement.
I look forward to seeing you again.
Love you,
Oatmeal

this is a nice sentiment written for a friend. i know you didn't write this to promote your ranking on fanstory but to pay tribute to a friend, so i think four stars is an appropriate rating. very nicely done.

Glad to hear about you.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Thank you for sharing.
Just a few suggestions:
"For the rest of my life, whether it be short [,] or long, I would remember him [,] and feel sad." ... commas not needed
"All I can do, is help him carry" ... No comma needed
What a great ending:-) God bless you and him....

Hi Jan,
This is sad piece but your writing is so gripping that it pulled me in. You are so right, that life is not fair. Sometimes, that only thing we can do be there for our family and friends.

This essay really touched me. Twenty years ago my husband committed suicide. I never quite got over it. Reading this has helped.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband. Time only dulls the pain. It doesn't erase it. I am blessed to know reading this helped. Thank you so much for the review.

Jan

This is very wonderful poignant message sent out to someone who is hurting. You show wonderful empathy and I am sure you words are probably the mainstay in keeping your friend alive. You don't say why he wants to take his own life, but it sounds like one of those people who was simply born without the will to live. There are such unfortunate people; I know, I am one of them. I struggle each day with just the courage to get up in the morning. You have done your friend a wonderful favor. You have reached out, which, in my opinion, shows the true love of God (the latter is a personal comment and not part of a professional review.)

Dear Jan, I just converted a rather lengthy review into a PM, where I feel I can say more bluntly what is in my heart than I can in this public place. Here I simply want to tell you that I am glad for your open and willing heart embracing others who hurt. Thank you, dear friend. Gerry
