Yes this is good but to make it an award winner possibly use a satori statment- like in haiku- for instance...

Organ donation--miracle gift of life.
Organ donation--another heart still beats.
this leads the reader into the conclusion yet subliminally- but I agree with you on this issue and wish you luck inthe contest- Di

Hello Diny! It's great to see you and I appreciate your time to look this shortie over and for your kind review. I like your suggestion but I wanted to stress kidney donation. I suppose it could read....Organ donation--another kidney still flows. :>)
    Thanks so much, Diny.

For a six word story, how can the importance of this message be improved? You talk of o whole new life (from experience) in so short a statement, Karyn. Truly profound and so true. Not meaning to sound flippant, but wouldn't imagine my kidneys are very desirable, too much abuse over the years. If your story influences just one person to think seriously about it, then you as an individual has saved a life.
Wonderful, Karyn and I hope this wins. Ray xx

Hi RayMan! Thanks for your thoughts and comments about this. My son will eventually need another transplant because he was young for the first one, but he's lucky--there's lots of living donors who are willing to give him one of theirs. So many people have to wait for their second chance and some are never given that chance to keep living. BTW...I bet you have great-looking kidneys! :>)

I can appreciate this one. It is such a true and real six word story. My Sister in law had a kidney transplant that prolonged her live many years. Well done. Thanks, Jeanette

Hello Jeanette! Thanks for your kind review for this shortie. Because my son was young when he had his transplant, they said he'll eventually need another one...but we're lucky because we have lots of living donors willing to donate a kidney to him. So many people have to wait for one. Thanks!

Lady IndianaIrish,

At least the process is simpler now. California has made it possible to use the driver license to identify donors enabling immediate action inc case of a fatal accident.

In the old days they had to wait for an authorization by a copy of a document by the deceased or a family member. Then they gave out a card to accompany the license with a red dot you glued to the license.

Now they finally printed it on the license before it is laminated with the tamper proof, anti-counterfeit holograms.

Sadly, there are those who are willing but suffer chronic degenerative diseases that preclude such a gift.

A gift, another life to live.

Hello to you, Fantasist! You're right...many states are not requiring the consent of a family member if a donor wants to give. Finally! What great news for the thousands of people who need an organ donation to live. I appreciate you review as always.
    Thanks!

This is a very good six word story that showed what it really means with your comments. I was thinking about this and I thought of Organ Donor - miracle giver of life. Just thinking. Great job my friend. Love, Teri

This poem is for a very good cause and it appears to be in the guidelines for the rules of a 6 word story that reflects on a moment on your life. Organ donation is a good cause, of course, for thousands of people waiting in line for this "miracle gift of life" as stated in this story. lovemyta

Six words captures the essence in its entirety. Thanks for the authors notes. Makes the six words personal for the reader.

So glad that your son was able to benefit from organ donation.
Best
