Not my call on what should or shouldn't be posted here, but it is clear to me this isn't a "story" in any real sense.

But that wouldn't be fair to you if I marked down for that because all you're doing is following a format. That means I have to give this a 5 but as far as a review goes, there's nothing for me to go on.

Hope you understand.

Hello Jonesy! Thanks for the kind review even though you disagreed with the format. There's all kind of contests on FanStory and the organizer can put any kind of rules they want. It was a challenge to put this experience into just six words. Of course, nothing can beat the six word story of Hemmingway!
    Thanks,

Organ donation--miracle gift of life.

An excellent contest entry and excellent advice for everyone that reads it. Organ donation is the ultimate gift--the gift of life to someone in need.

Good luck in the contest!
Nita

Your six word story has winner written all over it, in my opinion. You have so deftly encapsulated a story filled with tragedy and love and ranging from the past to present to a truly hopeful eye cast toward a future that might not have been. I also think that your choice of artwork suits your story beautifully.

Well done, indeed, IndianaIrish. Good luck in the contest!

Best regards,

Eleiece K.

Hello Diana! Thanks for the read and your kind comments. More importantly, thank you for being a future donor! Many states are now changing the law...your kin won't have to be contacted for you to be a donor. If your license says yes, that's all they will need now. So many people who wished to be donors weren't because of an opinion of a family member. I'm so glad this is changing.
    THANKS!

I loved your six-word creation here, my friend, and judging from your notes it really was a miracle for you and your son. But when you think about it after the fact, it's not actually a miracle. It's more like a conscious decision of a donor and hard work of medical staff who make this miracle to happen.
Sorry for being so pragmatic.

Good luck in a contest.
Cheers,
Ross

Hello Ross! Thankis for the read and review. I'll always believe the whole process to be a miracle. So many people are in need of a kidney and too many die because people don't want to donate. It's an amazing thing to be close to death one day and back to normal in a few short weeks because they were given a second chance to live. I do understand that it's not a "true" miracle but it sure is pretty dern close in my eyes.
    Thanks, Ross!

indy,
i am so glad he is doing well. that is always great when i hear a success story. my cousin didn't fair so well. his lasted less than two years. i believe it was because he was working a job where he wasn't able to drink fluids as needed or use the restroom. he worked twelve hour shifts seven days a week. he literally worked himself to death. you are right. anyone who doesn't have an autoimmune disorder, aids or hepatitis c should donate. i believe that even the heppers can donate such things as corneas as the disease attacks it last.
thanks again for the story.easy to read and follow. imagery is excellent. the picture is great. keep up the good work~
love,
barbara

Hello Barbara! Thanks for your thoughts and comments about this posting. Being a kidney donor really scares many people, but the procedure isn't what it used to be and they recover so quickly. Thanks!

Hey Indy

You certainly got the most out of six words. The notes too were very informative. I didn't know about the facts and figures you have here, and I agree that being a donor, for whatever organs, is a great thing.

How is your son today? I'm glad he got a chance, to hopefully, live a normal life.

Excellent stuff, girleen, and best of luck in the contest

Eagle Eye

Thanks for your comments on this one, Boyo...it's a subject close to my heart. Thanks for asking about my son...I suppose the reason I felt the need to write this is because his latest labwork wasn't good and there's a chance he may need a biopsy to see if his disease has invaded the transplanted kidney. Should know something within a few weeks. Thanks for the kind review on this shortie, Jer.

Dear Irish,

Well done, it says much in six little words. Perhaps some day we won't need them, medical science is rapidly progressing.

Good luck in the contest.

Warm regards,

Winslow

Hi Indy,

I loved the poem and its message. But I am not so sure about the picture, it is bit scary this happy poem. You did wonder job in expressing your message in one sentence.

Excellent Poem!

Hi Lynn! Thanks so much for your kind review for this shortie that's so close to my heart. I liked the picture because it looked closed and trapped and then breaks open into a beautiful bloom.
    Thanks!

Good one, Indy! Organ donation is a selfless, noble act. My mother passed away nearly thirty-six years ago and became an organ donor. Good luck in the contest!

Hello M! Thanks for giving this a read and for your kind review. Bless your mom for giving life. My son will eventually need another transplant they say since he was so young when he got his, but we're lucky---there's a list of living donors who's willing to give them one of their kidneys. So many people have to wait.
    Thanks!
