I put my favorite lines below. I could totally relate to this and your words were so powerful. You did a wonderful job writing this poem and I wouldn't change a thing.

The pain - unfathomable
The situation - incomprehensible
The result - irreversible

I have read this poem twice, wondering what circumstances placed the writer in such a quandary. I know that often it is best for me just to keep quiet especially when dealing with family (children, grandchildren). But it seems that this wasn't something just irritable ... but something very traumatic.

My heart goes out to all involved.
A well written, but disturbing piece.

Mrs KT, how I wish I had a sixer for you. Not only have I been there but I have watched my daughter struggle through this, too. The pain - unfathomable
The situation - incomprehensible
The result - irreversible
And yet, the connection -- unbreakable
but, unfortunately, neither side is able to let the other know. I'm sorry for your pain.

You pose an interesting question here, Diane. Should we try to help those who have wronged us, or should we ignore the situation? Of course, the moral thing to do would be to help. That might even turn an enemy into a friend. I like your poem.

The disconnected connectedness seemed to be forced through most reluctantly because of pride, anger and a pressing need for self-preservation. Though the sorrow, grief and despair experienced by the disconnected party is fully appreciated, the party that chooses to disconnect prefers to remain silent and not respond, due to the unfathomable pain from past experience. The three seemingly broken lines of the 1st and last stanza aptly illustrate the disconnection. Love the poem.

Hello, Diane . . . a question for the ages. This poem is powerfully written, universally poignant, and poses a query fit for Solomon. This common man's response might be: The door need be open to love.
Not much of a review for you, my Friend - for that I apologize.

Even if the door keeps being slammed in one's face? Ah! Dante! Just pondering questions for which I have no answers to a situation for which there is no explanation...or if there is, I have yet to discover it! Be Well!!! It is amazingly beautiful here today! diane

Hi diane,
Yes, we should all be connected to help and support one another and take advantage of all the resources we have been provided, like this wonderful creation ... the internet. So many tragedies on a constant basis around the world. We all need to appreciate what we have.
As usual, wonderfully crafted.Always a pleasure to read.

Knowing the pain and suffering of another yet only able to reach out with prayer. Not reaching out when you want to by choice is a big price for pride. Sad poem. We have all done it. Thanks for sharing. Robbin

Wow! This poem is excellent. How well you've described a horrendous tragedy the rest of us will never know about. My only reservation? That I don't know what happened!
Very well done.

Hi Ms. KT,

Ooooohhh - nicely done!

Yes, sometimes it's best to just "sit with" someone / something that is so seemingly insurmountable. (I call it "processing time.")

The middle section hit me as sort of a take-off on Eliot's "J. Alfred Proofrock" - but in a bit of a different context.

Nicely done!

Thanks for sharing,

Jan
