Ross, we are back safely and doing much better after this wonderfully refreshing trip. Weather was great, seas were calm, people were friendly, and we took great pictures of sunrises and sunsets, in particular. Hope I can get them to work within fanstory's parameters. Love, Jan

I hope you ha ve a wonderful time. Nova Scotia is one of my favorite places in all the world. I enjoyed one of those upper decks with a balcony on an Alaskan Cruise and can tell you they are magnificent. So, all of that said, it should be a great trip. ann

Ann, this is the first time we've had an upper deck with a balcony. I will take less vacations just to be able to afford the balcony in the future, for sure. I took great pictures of sunrises and sunsets from our balcony -- also shots of the moon shining on the water. I often just sat on the balcony while we were cruising and communed with God while the rest of the folks were doing whatever. It was great. Nova Scotia is indeed a beautiful place. Love, Jan

Well, dear Baroness, I doubt you'll see this before you go, but have a wonderful cruise, and do at least give Aubrey a spare blanket when you exile him to the balcony! I'm so glad to hear you two are getting away, and I hope it's every bit as rejuvenating as you wish, and then some.
You wrote this letter for us all here very well, and it summarises your traumatic year all too clearly. There are a few suggestions I'd make, but by and large they're judgement calls. I only found one typo in the piece.
So:
In our almost 35 years of marriage, August 5th, this is only our second getaway with just the two of us. - Is August 5th your anniversary? The date sits a bit awkwardly in this sentence (and if suneagle sees it he'll jump on it being "5th" instead of "5", lol). I think the sentence would read more smoothly just as "in our almost 35 years of marriage, this is..."
Ironically, it appears she may have gotten pregnant - mm, not sure if "gotten" is really accepted standard English (or is that my grade three teacher's voice I hear?). Perhaps "become"?
shirt, somehow a neon orange - suggest a new sentence with "somehow"
As I was hugging my friend as she was - perhaps "While I was hugging", to avoid two uses of "as"?
Just past week, I received a call - Just last week,
how well it went over with me. - suggest "how well that went over with me", just for more pointed emphasis
known and respected this man aqll my life. - all my life
that of becoming grandparents. (See paragraph 2) - the reference back to paragraph 2 isn't really needed, unless your readers have really BAD short-term memory loss!

Although I'm divorced now I was married 13 years two months ao my ex's brother commited suicide. I would never have anticipated this from him he was level headed and always the one with the cure sort of speak. I recieved the message through my son and was devastated. I am still shaken by it. Fate and faith work in strange ways sometimes. jeana

jeana, suicide is one of the toughest tragedies from which to recover from the effects, I think, as there are never any true answers, even when there are letters of explanation. My world has been rocked this way numerous times. It does not get easier. Thanks for sharing your story and your kind words. Love, Jan

By the time i got to the end of your story, for some reason I was almost in tears. A told a remarkable, and attention grabbing account of your past couple of months.

Steevie, although there've been many times I could've easily tossed Red overboard -- and he, me, I'm sure -- we had an excellent trip which replenished us as individuals and as a couple. I have marvelous pictures which I hope to be able to share if I can get fanstory to accept them. Love, Jan

Even if there are many of them they won't be able to listen to all that we have to say to release our tension. Many things mentioned here are very personal, esp about the red-headed boy, who's still a husband but seems to have moved out. This cruise will be a reconcilliation of sort, a new test of compatibility and tolerability since he snores. Wish you the best, Rdfrdmom2, and hope you've a rich adventure story on your return.
