Very engaging biographic non ficton. I like hearing about people's real lives. You have a lot of detail for the reader in this write, but not to much that it becomes tedious. Your author notes help fill in any gaps for the reader too.

I became involved from the outset as you start with something that is so familiar to us all.

Something we have put of doing that never presented as an opportunity again. Good strategy.

I have no suggestions for improvment. Thanks for sharing your writing with me, and I am very sorry for the loss of your father.

Hi Mrs K.T,

I feel sure that you won't tell anyone if I confess to weeping at your story today?

Your wonderful, wonderful account of your relationship with your father comes on a day when I have just posted one about mine ('monster') perhaps you would gain some comfort for your own pain if you were to line the two up together.

I don't think I cry because of envy or cruel memories, I think that my tears are for the joy that you and your Dad experienced together, tears of happiness that a father could show you love in so many, many ways, and then despite all of his health issues, to die in dignity with his loving daughter in his view......set me off again now!??

Yes my tears are tears of joy, a joy that reflects life not how it is, but life as it should be, and how it is for my children now.

Congratulations on the life you had with your father and thank you for sharing that with me today!

Regards and best wishes!

Neil.

Dear Neil: it is very early here in Michigan this morning - not even 6:00 am, but I am up and about as my day will soon start at the local high school where I teach English. Your review is so moving to me. I so appreciate your beautiful words regarding my posting/tribute to my father. He was truly an exceptional man. I have been further blessed with having had the rare fortune of being married to a man very much like my father for the last twenty-nine years. And ironically, my daughter and her father enjoy the same relationship with one another that my father and I did. I have been so moved by the number of reviewers who have shared that this posting deeply affected them. Both men and women have related how it has brought them to tears. (My own husband was a "puddle" last nite after he read it as well.) I take from all of this the knowledge that I was extremely fortunate to have had such a wonderful father. He never once rebuked me or laid his hand on me; neither has my husband with our children. That is very rare today.
Be well, and I hope the sun is shining today wherever you are in England. . . lovely country....have visited only once - Henley Regatta - daughter was racing. Hope to return someday. . . diane

That has to be the most touching story I have ever read. Seriously, I have a lump in my throat the size of a golfball and tears in my eyes. I'm frankly envious that you had such a wonderful father and I'm very sorry for your loss. You may have never had your train ride, but you had a whole heck of a lot more than most people have with their fathers (mine included, who has always been a bit distant and hard to love at times) I think if everyone had a father like yours, there would be a lot less violence and strife in the world today. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely story. What an amazing tribute to your father's memory. Bless you

I thought I've already commented on this one. No?

Maybe not, but I did read it before. Hmm. Isn't it strange?

Anyway, I thought it was a very sweet biographical piece of writing. I really enjoyed it.

Regards,
Ross

What a wonderful tribute to an obviously loved father! I am sure that he is sitting somewhere, on a train, reading your words. Smiling.

What works so well are the short remembrances. List-like (horrible English on my part!). It allows us to learn a lot about the man in a relatively short collection of thoughts.
well done and a joy to read.

Oh, Diane, this is marvelous. It's so full of the kind of memories that make a wonderful human being. How lucky you were to have such a father. He gave you his time and dreams. They don't come any better. Thank you for sharing with us lesser mortals. I enjoy your poetry and now I get to love your prose.
