Hi there. Haven't seen you on FS for awhile, but I still have your book in my bookcase. Isn't it so true how the devastation only makes the news. I like that your piece honors the humanity of your soldier, as well as the children who looked up to him. Thanks for sharing.

Now there's a word fro my past - ANZAC - I didn't know that the Australian / New Zealand designation was still being used.
Nicely done, most people do not realize that men of war are usually the biggest proponents of peace
Well done

Well said. Couldn't have worded your last line better if I'd tried. Thank you so much for saying this! And yes, ANZAC will probably be used until the end of time... Bless you Michael xoxoxoxo

He does make friends easily, and loves kids just as easily. He was amazed at how happy these children were, even in the midst of the whole sorry mess, and even with what little they had. Hats off to you for your wonderful comments and excellent rating. Bless you littleoleme, from this little ole me xoxoxoxo

Bless you and thank you so much for your heartfelt comments and great rating. Yes, it's a real pity that more of this sort of stuff was not seen over and above the carnage. His military achievments over there are equalled, if not surpassed by the kindness and time he gave to these children. The rating you gave for this poem is also surpassed by your sentiments xoxoxoxo

Very nice, a quiet cheer for a quiet hero. The word play is nice and the emotion is real...very well done. I hope to read more

This is a wonderful tribute to your Glen. Governments, even the best of them use propaganda. We are never told all the truth. Our servicement may come back seemingly all in one piece, but all have been effected to some degree. Your poem illustrates this well.

Hi alpacalady,
A heros' welcome then was it not accorded to him? Lives we touch, in battle and war- and 'the good is oft interred with the bones'- Shakespeare. Julius Caesar.
So let it be proud lady, for your pride has its' own place of mind, with your Glen.
Very beautiful tribute, and our blessings as always for peace and love!

He was met by the media for one of their "make it look good" interviews on his return. It was all a crock if you ask me, but we got our faces on TV even for a brief moment! But our pride, and that of yours and all those whose nations have fought in this and other wars, is really all that matters at the end of the day. Your words and review are appreciated greatly. Thanks Prem. xoxoxoxoxo

I've often lamented the lack of "happy" news. As Paul Harvey once noted something along these lines, The news today, 385,000,000 americans splept peacefully last night. Tens of thousands of stores were not robbed, and millions of children did not get kidnapped. etc, etc. If only we could focus on the pictures as shown above -- not to ignore real problems, but to balance them out. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, so true. There was a reporter from here in Oz, Pierce Ackerman, who tried to cover the humane stories, and also tried to give us the "real" stuff that was going on over there, but I believe some stories were mysteriously made "unavailable" or something convenient like that. It is a sad and sorry state when bad news is all that "the people" need to see. Thank you so much for sharing your views, comments and wonderful review tobiah. xoxoxoxoxoxxo

A beautiful poem to all the hero soldiers, as each and everyone of them is. All that served, all that died. Your poem uses great flow and imagery to form a tribute to the. I just hope that we never put this much blood on our souls, as a nation again, without cause and go to war based on lies. The men are all heroic individuals, the leaders (Washington) are all devils. .......beautifully written and well thought out. The "News" can't have these pictures plaster across the front page - who would believe it anyway. We all want the blood and the gore; nothing else thank-you. God, our world is so sad. Please thank the gentleman in the picture for a job well done. He didn't ask to be sent, but he did his duty (that's what a real hero is all about. Again, thank the gentleman and his commards for the job they did for us...

He needs no thanks - as far as he's concerned, he did his duty and whatever else he could do to make life easier over there. But your comments are appreciated deeply by me, as they would be by him if I only had the guts to show him this piece. Bless you for what you have said xoxoxoxoxox
