Hello my friend,
A sad piece and one that opens eyes to the plights of war. I have been to the ovens in Germany and it was heart breaking.... Dancing in Dreams

My mother was a child in Germany during the war, and her horror stories from that time still chill my bones. Ppeople would ask her how the German people could stand by and let this happen. The simple answer is they did not know.
    Thanks again,
    Curt

A very poignant piece of poetic expression of the heinous acts during the holocaust. Genocide is evil at its worst and sadly human history is filled with it, and it still continues today. Its not an issue of forgetting, its an issue of stopping this mindless cycle of violence.

In a world based on greed and the accumulation of wealth, it will never happen. The best we can do is be ever vigilant and watchful, and even this is not enough.
Thank you for your insightful review.

great writing here!!! I found this work to be very well done but soo soo sad. the picture fits this writing very well. Let us never forget the horrors of genocide. Which might I add, are happening right now in other parts of the world. pugdogy

You are right there. In a world based on greed and the "rat race", climbing the ladder to the top and not caring who gets hurt, we cannot have a lasting "peace."
Thank you for your heart warming comments.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Top work Curt - you have to be happy with that - that is the best you've done

first line is just wonderful - great hook in . In fact that whole verse is superb .

And although the second verse is slightly weaker - I feel thats only because the other three are so good - break did you good obviously - thats a sixer , really pleased for you - thats top writing JD.

Thank you my friend. This is a difficult subject for some to digest, it gives them heartburn I suppose.
The trip did do me some good. I was able to enjoy myself in the most decadent of ways, climbing mountains! My sister lives in the shadow of Pike's Peak, and it is so much fun to go there and free climb. I only wish it would have been longer in duration. (that's what she said too)
Thank you again for your review. It is an honor for me that you enjoyed it so much.
    Take care my friend,

I love to see different rhyming schemes in action. Excellent work! I enjoyed the flow of the poem. The message in itself was powerful. Amazing that it just came to you. Those are usually the best.

The artwork above your piece added to the overall feel of the poem, at least for me.

Well it was definitely gut-wrenching... a good reaction considering we're talking about war.

It's amazing what authority can do to us.

So true. The sadder part still is we allow it to happen.
    Thanks for your comments,

Excellent poem, Curt. Almost hit the six-star here. I think that might have been the darkest time for humans this world has ever seen. You captured it well. Very disturbing.

This is a very clever poem that I like very much. It talks to me because of the rhyming word in the same line. Very good, but I think you already knew. However, I see nothing to mend or to alter. Thank you for sharing. NorthPal
