I like the way the emotions change in this poem. It is clear that you start objectively, then start an old way of thinking based on the past, then make a conscious effort to feel hopeful.
The rhythm of the poem works well.
The pictures adds to the appeal.

This is a very uplifting and thoughtful poem. I like the idea of acknowledging the past's lessons but not letting them drag us there and keep us there. A new year, in fact a new day, a new minute is all there for the taking, all the time and not just annually. Great poem and definitely inspirational.
