Wow! A great poem but what a way to start a New Year. I hope the chain is broken but if not it's time to seriously think about it. Habits are very difficult to break and it sounds as though this is what has happened. I am assuming that this is a juxtaposition and you have the knack of putting yourself into someone else's shoes.
This poem is excellent. Very good job.

I pray not to be a fool as well, I tend to interfere with God's plans though, am always getting in His way, but thankfully He is good ( very good I might add) at teaching me valuable lessons when I do.

And on bended knees,
Most reverently pray
To God Almighty
That I am not a fool.
So do I! Don't we all wish that we are not fools! This poem takes us on a journey of thoughts...is the past an indication of the future? I don't know.

I like this poem. The personification of New year was creative. I felt the poem could have benefitted with punctuation through out the poem, but the lack thereof did not take away from the poem. Great work!
