Well done Diane - the imagery is wonderful, the message admirable, and the conclusion funny. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this piece, and look forward to more of your work.

I see why this is a recognized poem. Excellent phrasing, pace, and iteration. Beautiful sentiment and meaning, with relevance to boot.

utterly enjoyable and I, unfortunately, have nothing to add in the way of criticism.

This was a very enjoyable poem. Great job in how you structured/styled it. I didn't see anything wrong with your spelling or grammar, or anything else. Good luck, and godspeed.

Wonderful poem for the new year. It exquisitely expresses what too many of us go through. I loved the repetition of the phrase "Words, Paths, Hopes". What a great summation of what the new year is, and how we taint it with our pasts.

Great rhythm. The imagery is perfect. Thanks for posting this wonderful work.

Wow, that is excellent. I love the sparse lines. It is so common in us to reject hope when we remember the mistakes of the past, and you make a powerful reminder that there is no need to fear what has passed, because we are masters of our new actions.

I so wish I could give this 7 stars... Fave line: "The past surreptitiously makes its presence known" then those three t"s. I loved the form you used in this poem, with the three descriptive words placed throughout, each owning its own line. The artwork used is perfect, although I can't honestly figure out why. Excellent vocabulary use: so rare to read a work where each word sparkles, its own tiny crystal gleaming, the perfect word for the perfect place. Kudos and happy new year back atcha! shy
