I, too, have collected far too much over the years. When family passed away, I always felt it my duty to save their memories just in case future generations would care to know. Now, I finally see, that the current generations could care less about those things. So, I understand, a hoarder she is not. She has her reasons for to letting go and that's her right to do so. Well done!
Smiles, Carol

Debi, so this is about a friend. I thought it might be about you. This is a good example of how you take a subject. And using an understandable language draw your reader into your verse in a personal way. Unique. Well done. Terry.

Hi Terry, thanks for your kind comments for this Messy Poem. Nope, not about me. But she does have a very neat house but a lot of stuff packed in bins up stairs. So thanks again, my friend. It means a lot to me. Love, Debi

The artwork is fitting for your poem, Debi. You have used very good descriptive detail that paints a vivid word picture of your friend. It flows smoothly with the addition of rhyme. Your notes are appreciated, too.

I like your description, "lovely mess." Based on her early growing up, it is understandable she would have a tendency to keep things. At least she has things in bins, and from what you have described, she has kept antiques. Who knows how valuable some of those might be. An interesting conclusion, and I would have to say she will be well taken care of when she is called to her final resting place.

I keep saying it, you are one talented writer. You can even make a mess look attractive. Is that picture actually a painting, one of yours perhaps, the color is truly fantastic.
By the way, I don't need to be invited to be sloppy in that area my wife considers says I excel. I loved this poem.

Hahaha! Bob, you are a charmer, that is for sure. But I happen to agree with your wife, according to what I know, my husband is pretty messy too. LOL.. Love, Debi

That is really good! I like it even more because that lady is like me!! LOL I hate throwing out anything. And like this lady, my siblings and I didn't have much, my parents didn't have a lot of money, but they were rich in love. Your contest entry is amazing, your rhyme, perfect, the examples, funny, what is there not to love in your poem? Well done and good luck in the contest! :)) Sandra xx

Hi Sandra, thanks for the kind words for the poem. I am happy that you could relate, because some thought it was about hoarding and she was a wonderful housekeeper, but maybe mor of a pack rat, as she packed it all away and stored it organized. Thanks again!

We have a basement filled with 45 years of memorable
Papers, trophies and artifact. My better half will never part with any one piece. "The kids can do what they want with it when I'm gone" is always her retort.
Who am I to argue? I'll never win!

Great poem, and of. Purse a contender in the voting.

Enjoy your Sunday, sis.

John

How precious those things are that mark our journey through life, each with its own memories attached. Hard to part with, as your poem so eloquently expresses. A joy to read.

I enjoyed your poem about your friend's organised mess. She obviously has a big house if she gets to keep so much stuff. And what treasures her children and grandchildren will find when they go through it. Good read, and good luck in the contest.

The heart wants what it wants. And it's hard to let go of objects touched by memories. I hope her kids have patience! This is a great entry for the contest.
