Yes, estory, the climate change takes many forms. It's hard to say how much is man made and how much is a natural phenomenon. I think it's a bit of both the man made taking the upper hand.. I really enjoyed reading both your poems. Ulla:)))

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the piece. I wanted to really get across the unsettling feeling and the uncertainty that all this climate change can cause in our society. When you see those places go, those trees and landmarks disappear, it is like the ground moving under our feet. estory

I'm sorry all of this is happening in your world. I guess the beaches must be the first to go. I haven't noticed a lot of changes of my lifetime in the climate unless maybe the winter isn't quite as severe as it once was. The summer seems a little milder as well. Actually is a bit more pleasant for both seasons.

Thanks for the excellent review and your consideration of my poem. I wanted to capture the unsettling feeling of change, but if you aren't experiencing it, I guess it insn't relevent. estory

I have also seen a storm claim a beach as it was completely washed into the sea and had to be replaced. There is a lot of activity in this post and climate change is on everyone's lips these days, a magical post, love Dolly x

Thanks for the excellent review and your words of sympathy for my poem. Whatever you believe is causing it, it is still unsettling to watch your world changing around you, and you lose familiar trees and buildings and places. estory

More familiar and much-loved things mentioned here. It's hard not to conjecture about an Ozymandian end to the world as we know it.
It's not just the effect of climate change, which is undeniable and at least in part caused by our profligacy and greed, but also, as you pointed out in the earlier part of this poem, bad stewardship. The madness of polluting our rivers and seas, unsustainable monocultures, and rapacious disregard for natural cycles.
One cannot help being concerned about the future outcome.
Anyone who doesn't feel uneasy about the warning flags is blind in the deeper sense of the word.

Thanks again for the exceptional review and your perspective on the poem. I think you got exactly what I was trying to get across. Whatever the reason for climate change, we can be better stewards. We don't have to litter the roadsides and waste energy and materials. We need to be more mindful of natural cycles and systems. It's up to us to fit in, not the other way around. estory

Well the devastation and ruins depectided in your last stanza it adds to the desolation of the future. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

If only we could look after our world a little better instead of expecting small organisations to do the massive job on our behalf. As you say, we need to work in harmony to safeguard earth's beauty and the "scripture of nature. Your free verse is a strongly felt, poignant reminder of what we could lose if we continue to upset the delicate balance of our world. Thank you for sharing. Debbie

Beautiful imagery! I really love the quote 'the scripture of nature'. So true we have to take care of our planet to keep it going. And thank you for sharing your personal experience as well with hurricane sandy.

Thanks for the excellent review and your comments in support of the poem. Hurricane Sandy was one of those unsettling events that changed the landscape, even a way of life. When the Earth moves under our feet, we feel dislocated. estory

I enjoyed reading your poem. It is so true about our planet. It seems as though some people don't get it. I liked that you listed things being affected by climate change. Your poem is well written. Great job!

Thanks for the excellent review and your words of support for the poem. Whatever the reason for climate change, there is no doubt that it is unsettling, creating an uncertain future, and we are losing familiar places and ways of life. We need to fit into nature, not the other way around. estory

What an awesome reflective and historical piece. I am unaware of what was scribbled on the Hoover Dam.

Most enjoyable read. The poem was captivating from first word to last.

Thanks for the excellent review. Of course John Muir's quote was not inscribed on the Hoover Dam. I just thought it was a suitable image to portray the irony of man's imposition on the landscape, and natural systems. estory

Ha! I totally thought you were saying someone had put it there. That would have been genius graffiti!
