-Very nice image and presentation, Beth.
-Your notes are appreciated, although
I do not find thunderstorms thrilling.
-I did not know that about cicadas, either.
-The syllable count is good, along with the topic.
-Effective imagery and rhyme.
-A very good opening verse sets the scene.
-Excellent imagery in the first line of verse two.
-"roiling rage" is a good choice, as well!!
-A very good concluding verse.
-A very good entry; good luck in the contest.
-One very small thing. You might want to
consider separating each verse; it isn't wrong if you don't,
but it would emphasize your images and transition more.

Beth, I don't find you strange at all, and I don't think I ever will. I can quite understand where your ambivalent attraction comes from. Just because you fear it doesn't mean you can't find the beauty. All the best of luck. Ulla:)))

Thank you Ulla. Actually the only time I was ever really afraid of bad weather was when I was ten old and in the months after I was taken up in the air and everything we owned as destroyed. I been in one tornado since that ripped off a roof, but I can't seem to fear them. I think they are a powerful and awesome display of nature and I find them thrilling. I appreciate the review.

I have been in a cat 4 tornado once and it was the most amazing experience. It shouldn't have been. I have to write about it sometimes.

It seems I remember you writing something about it. Weren't you visiting friends in the US when it happened?
reply by Ulla on 11-Apr-2024
That is very well remembered. Yes, I was with my friends in Missouri

Love the image and the background color. Thanks for the notes. I agree that thunder storms can be thrilling. Tornados are out of my league. One spelling error " roiling should be rolling " - Line 5
Thanks for sharing.
Take care and have a wonderful day.
Cheers.

Thank you for the review. Roiling was the word I wanted to use since it means aggitated and distrubed. Sorry it doesn't work for you.

Totally ok by me. I have just not heard of it before to be quite honest. Live and learn. Have a good day.

This work has reached the exceptional level

A poem describing the birth, so to speak, of the season of Spring. Everything begins anew and Mother Nature makes no secret of the fact. A poem filled with scents and sounds and superb poetic imagery.

I love simple, perhaps because I am. And this, with its lovely rhyme and flow surely qualifies. It portrays the story of life, a storm rolling in and ensuring and renewing life. Loved your poem and the images it produces.

This is an interesting poem. I think thunderstorms are thrilling too, especially the lightning. I particularly don't like bugs. So all those cicadas seem gross to me. I think because there are going to be so many. It was a very good poem.

Thank you Brenda. I see I'm not alone in liking storm and I not really crazy about bugs either. Those which we used to call locust make a horrible noise when they come on of the ground to breed.

This is an enjoyable poem about the weather. Storms are important and April storms can be good for the flowers and plants to arise. You have a smooth flow of rhyming words and lines. Your vivid use of words creates a clear scene of nature.

I know what you mean about thunderstorms, Beth. There's just something about all that raw power and energy in a storm that is thrilling. I never knew that about cicadas that they stay in the ground all that time before emerging. (I kinda wish they would just stay there, though--too noisy!)

This was a wonderful sounding poem with its great rhyme and meter, and a terrific picture you chose to accompany it. Great job. - Jim

Thank you Jim. I am finding a lot of people like thunderstorms but bugs, no so much. They are only out of the ground few days while create a new crop to be emerge in 17 years. Then they die, so I guess they deserve the right to celebrate.
reply by Jim Wile on 11-Apr-2024
Yes, I would agree. After all that time in the ground, then to live for only a few days, I won't begrudge that sound any more.

I think your poem is a great celebration of nature, and weather. The cycles of life seem to come through here, we experience the spring rebirth of the bulbs and plants, the rebirth of the long slumbering cicadas. Weather is thrilling. I got hooked on weather after going through hurricane Gloria on Long Island in 1984. Tornadoes are a bit scarier for me now. I've had a few come within five or six miles of my house here. Went through a bad hail storm too that totaled my car. estory

Thank you for the nice review, I enjoyed reading your comments. I've been in two tornadoes and although they destroying house and property and one took me up, I wasn't hurt by either so I figure someone up there must be looking out for me.
