There's a lot going on in this chapter. I liked the way Alan helped to break the ice between Carrie and Tommy in the car going to the dance. It seems that everyone is in a good place at the moment. Writing about a computer lesson could easily have got bogged down. I thought you had just the right level of detail.

This is nicely written, and it is a nice chapter, with nice characters, and the scenes were also nice. The relationship between Ginnie and Alan (now a boyfriend, officially) is going nicely. That Tommy introduced Alan, only as his neighbor was odd.

What a nice guy you are, Lance. Thanks for the nice review. This is the calm before the storm, the beginnings of which take place shortly. A little bit more niceness, then we begin with the struggles which will occupy much of Part 2.

This is another excellent chapter. I smiled while reading the dance scene. Your character knows how to teach individually and in a class, but of course, he is a teacher. I do not see any need for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Thanks, Lee. I used my own experience with those junior high dances where everyone looked like a spazz doing the fast dances. There were never enough slow dances!

This sounds a little like a class I took a long time ago hoping I would understand computers better. I didn't. The kids seem to have no trouble with it. They also seem to be the right kids to work together for the class. Life is good for Alan.

Tommy and Alan do seem to have chosen the right kids for the class. This class will serve to reawaken Alan's love for teaching which he hopes to get back to someday.

Things seem to be settling down very quickly with Allen and Ginnie, and who knows where it lead, as if I didn't know, and now Tommy is sweet on a bright new young girl called Callie, while Allen is teaching basic computer skills, well done Jim, good story line. Blessings Roy

Thanks very much, Roy. I'm just hoping it all fits together well, as there is a lot going on. The main purpose of the computer classes is to reawaken Alan's love for teaching which he's been thinking about doing at the college level some day. He's also a man without any kind of family anymore but seems to really thrive on family life.

You reminded me of my Introduction to Computer Programming class which was a beginning requirement course for my Business Management Degree many, many years ago. The one course was interesting, but I didn't want any more. This was an entertaining and enjoyable chapter.

Thanks so much, Lorraine. I'm amazed at how many of the readers took a computer class back in the day. Most of them hated it, but I'm glad you found it interesting. I hated my first computer class too, but that was mainly due to the teacher. I must have found it interesting enough, because 7 years later, I began a track that led to my eventual profession.

Wow, I'm impressed, Helen. Several of my readers took COBOL or Fortran or BASIC back in the day. COBOL was the language used during much of my career in IT, but toward the end we got into the sort of languages used for web pages like Visual Basic.
The first computer class I ever took was Fortran as an elective when I was studying landscape architecture. I hated that class because the teacher was really bad. It's quite amazing I ended up after that start with IT being my career in another 7 years after a few miscues in a different direction.

I never took Fortran but used PL/1 which had a more robust text handling ability. Mostly I used Nomad and DB2 to create reports for customers. It's fun to learn our computer literate friends here.
