This is such a well constructed, articulate sonnet, clearly capturing the endearing qualities of this familiar small bird that often visits our gardens!
The form is followed perfectly, and the rhymes are true. I wanted to give six stars but could only find five in the options xxxi.

Thank you for your super review. We all run out of those sixes by the end of the week, if not sooner, ha ha.

I definitely think that the robin is my favourite type of bird and I always love seeing them, I think it's because they're quite tame and also they appear to be quite solitary birds as well. An excellent piece, I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you for your great review. I was also excited to see a robin in our neighbor's tree next door yesterday.

A striking sonnet to accompany your equally striking visual! I can't get over how different your robin is to the British one. But what a delight to see. I like the way your well-crafted verse evolves referencing not only the bird's beauty of appearance and song but also the dangers faced and the need for urgency to find a mate and perpetuate the cycle of nature and the season. Well done and good luck! Debbie

A well-crafted sonnet, Crystie, both in form and message.
I live in Michigan where the American robin is our state's bird.
I dearly love this harbinger of spring.
And I cannot tell you the number of times robins have made their nests in spring wreaths I construct and hang on our front door. So noisy, but so delightful!

Thank you for sharing!
Much enjoyed,
diane

That is very cool that robins like door wreaths. I don't dare try that due to having cats, though. Thank you for your personal review!

What a lovely sonnet for the lovely robin. Yes, their spring time songs are unmistakable and brings smiles to think of their romance. I like how you used the Volta stanza to show us the obstacles they have to deal with like cats and dogs. Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you for your super review. You definitely noticed what I wanted to accomplish with the references to cats and dogs.

Hello Crystie, you've penned such a delightful springtime sonnet. I know it's spring when the birds are singing their songs of love so early in the morning. Your sonnet reads and flows well, and your message is clear.

Of special note:
Since songbirds matter most in springtime days,
your purest melodies deserve our praise.

(This is so true. Lovely ending to your poem, and your words are so true.)

Well done. A pleasure to read. Margaret

A charming sonnet in true Shakespeare style. Dogs corrupting the song of robins was a very poetic way to describe the incessant and obnoxious barking in early morning lol

Oh my! What a lovely sonnet! I tried to single out a line or phrase that was my favorite, but I couldn't do it -- I loved every word, and pictured and 'heard' the verse throughout!

Best of luck in the contest with this jewel!

you nailed the sonnet form with this pastoral poem about the robin and its role as harbinger of spring The poem uses iambit pentameter, vivid imagery and allieration and fits the traditonal shakesperian sonnet form well done

This is a lovely tribute to the melodious Robin whose cheerful notes revive the world after a grey winter. They are the harbingers of spring and definitely deserve our love and respect.
