It is difficult to be a parent, but we always want the best for our children. We don't want them to suffer. But as a parent, we also don't want to suffer. A happy life is a happy wife!

Thank you Rosemary. There were times I wondered if I was doing anything right. They got of love and they grew to be caring people so I guess we didn't do too bad.

I've been remiss on reading some of your posts. I get inundated daily and have a hard time keeping up. For that I apologize. I'm glad I grabbed this one to read because I enjoy reading your family's posts. This one did not disappoint!
I'll try to keep up...

I enjoyed this installment very much. Did Evan finish building the shelter? Perhaps it could doble as a root cellar like Granny had in "The Beverly Hillbillies". Believe me, I made it to the top of "Fool's Hill" many times and it was only the Grace of God that spared me.

Thank you Jim. He did finish the shelter but he had trouble getting us go in there. It was about 8x8 ft and you stand up in it. We sold that house in 2003 so I don't know how the new owners used it.

During the atomic scare, I begged my father to build a shelter, but he refused.

This is a wonderfully written story about your daughter, Connie, and the trials and tribulations of being her mother and father. I enjoyed listening to it very much. It is very well written, and it flows well when it's ready. Patricia Patric.

Thank you Barbara. It certainly is easier when they are younger and thank you have all the answers. The teens can be rough but even when they are adults, you worry when they do unless that don't tell you anything.

I always love your stories about family. I see a lot of my granddaughter when you speak of Carol. I guess I can pray that she is climbing Fool's Hill and she is definitely a con artist. It's nice to know that I can pray she will get over that hill someday and life as a family might be possible.

Thanks Carol. Connie is 14 year old terror. I think most teens have problems and some are more obvious than others. They seem angry all the time. They are confused and frustrated and tying to prove the and grownups, who can do as they please. Connie turned out fine. Your granddaughter will too, I hope, unless her mother still has problems.

She does! But I am staying as far away as possible....it's sad but for the best.

Really? Three kids still at home. Though I did not show my two the door, they were glad to close it on the way out and have dome well enough not to yell help too often.

Well the two older ones about to leave and only one will be asked to leave. The last and youngest will have to stay, but she is the one who keeps threatening to leave. lol

Nice writing.
Too true, kids need instruction books. Parenting is a lot of guess-work, as far as I know. Experiment on the first, and give up when it comes to the last.
Can't be easy on the kids.
Best wishes.

Thank you Wayne. If kids did come with instruction book the books would need to be individually tailored to for that particular because something that works for one might not work at all for the next. We lucky if they get past those rocky teen year and learn how to may good decisions.

Rating yourself as a parent is hard. You can't read your kids' minds. Sounds like you had your hands full! I think the pacing in this story was good. The way your explained your kids' characters, and the way you related to them was clear.

Thank you, MIntybee. I really appreciate the nice review. After reading some of the stories on this site about some mother and father and how they treated their kids, I'm not going to score myself at the bottom. They got love and they tuned out alright. However only one of the four became a parent.

This is a very nice story nice in the sense that you bring normalcy to everyone else's issues in the fact that we are not alone so thank you for that! Beautifully written of a parent's commute to their children and tomorrow when they disappoint. Great job I really liked it! Casino issues with grammar sentence structure subject matter or aesthetics it's a great wonderful entry that only needs the six stars to go with it! Have yourself a great day!
