It sounds like your torment as a child continued into adulthood here and your abusers should be the ones suffering, not you Sue. How ever sad that your suffering went unnoticed by others. A touching post Sue, love Dolly x x x

Thank you for your kind thoughts, Dolly. It is so difficult to go about daily activities without at least one glimpse back, because of some stupid unwelcome reminder. Thank you again, for this very nice review!

First and foremost, I am sorry for what you suffered. I have five daughters and made extra effort hunting child predators and spouse abusers through ya my law enforcement career.

Many, many, many other children and even woman feel the way you did. Too many. So many that I never lacked targets to hunt throughout my Federal career.

Thank you for sharing.

PS my siblings and I were terrorized. (That is the only word that describes it) by a stepfather for years. It still haunts each of us in different ways to this very day.

Thank you, Douglas, for understanding and appreciating the severity of these crimes. Sadly, it deepens the focus to protect the vulnerable prey when the language is known fluently. I'm using this simile as I'm sure it makes sense. Thank you for your special target hunting and I trust this STARRED lesson was passed down to the next generation of protectors.

I enjoyed reading your poem. I can relate. I was abused from an early age too. Abuse stays with you all through your life. You portrayed all your feelings well through your words. Picture was a good match. Very good job

It takes courage to confront those demons in writing and it takes compassion to do it in order to keep other children from having similar experiences. Beautifully written. I like how you began and ended the poem with the same two lines. Thanks for sharing. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so very much for your thoughtful review. This is a tough subject that unfortunately isn't captured enough. Maybe in today's world, signs of child abuse are more apparent due to the internet and public awareness than it was before many years ago. Back then, it was see nothing, say nothing. Horrible. Anyway, Thank you so much!

Powerful stuff and quite original format. I guess it could be called a list? Although a list of questions, questions that don't require answers they tell their own story, each one of them. Thank you for sharing, I say that a lot on her but I mean it in two ways here. I wish you well.

Thank you so much, Mark. Yes, difficult subject, but those thoughts are so real. Gosh, whenever I see a child, I watch, and I watch. I truly look for signs and I just wonder. I wonder why nobody saw signs in me. Thank you again, Mark!

If this is the kind of childhood you had, I'm truly sorry. From what I have heard from others you are certainly not alone, but I glad to say this wasn't my childhood. I did keep secrets and I did worry about a lot of things. I did have a grandmother who lived with us that would get angry and call me an idiot but I let that bother me becuase I didn't believe I was an idiot.

This is such a tragedy of a stolen childhood. When I hear of such things, I can only wonder, What is wrong with people?? They should treasure and protect the children around them. How selfish and pathetic to hurt a child because of your own inadequacies. This is a well-crafted poem that digs into the fallout of failed human decency. I hope it can act as a way to cope and overcome. Thanks for sharing.

I thought your poem did a wonderful job of revisiting the memories and and tough lessons learned from your past. Each point is like a dagger as I read it. I hope it helps you writing this. It's good because others that have similar experience will surely relate.
