A very deep rebuke while inspiring change. I sometimes volunteer with Seattle Gospel Union Mission search and rescue by loading the trucks to go out to the homeless. However, I don't have the on-hand experience of actually meeting with them. I will take this thought into account the next time I'm there. Thank you for your artistry.

I love the dynamic of this poem. I am trying to decide whether or not I like the repetitive ending to each line. On the one hand it can be a powerful statement when repeated in that way but on the other hand, your words are powerful on their own and there may be a better way to incorporate that line into the poem. I remain undecided and leave that to you but either way the poem is powerful and well written. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed reading this poem. It is so powerful and soul searching. I do like the way you incorporated the words, a cold way to live. This poem captures many of our problems in our world. I also think the picture fits the poem well. Great job

Well, this poem punches hard. That refrain, "A cold way to live", really admonishes us to take up the call and put faith into action. You paint some real life moments of these people who all need help to. That confronts the reader as well. estory

I liked your poem. I'm not a poet nor do I know the necessary technicalities of certain styles. But I know a great message when I read it. We tend to pull away from society when the issues are overwhelming. It's a very vulnerable state to open yourself up to facing them. No, we probably can't change the world, but we can change one person's day. Great wake up call. Gretchen

It's such a pity when we are off handed and heartless, would we like that's? I think not, there is little love in this cold, cold world, I think you've managed to shine a light on this weakness Mike, well done, blessings Roy

I thought this was a powerful poem. I like how each stanza captures a lack of pity. And you have good examples from ignoring the needs of the homeless to neglecting the suffering of veterans and children. Great job on shining a light on an important social issues. Again, this was a powerful poem and I appreciate your message.

a cold way to live ... Your poem expresses the many individuals who are wandering wherever on the streets. Several facilities have clothing or food for the hungry. I worked at a facility that even did medical appointments.

The poem is well written. I don't really like the word "pity". People wantr respect and to be loved and cared for. They would like us to have empathy for their needs without the pity. Pity isn't exactly help. It like someone saying, "I feel sorry for him and I"m so glad I'm not in that shape, and then going on their way. That is just me. Maybe others will see it differently.

Hi, Beth. I didn't like the word Pity either, but I couldn't find a word as powerful and fit the syllable count. Thank you for your kind words!

Hello friend,
WOW....what a wonderfully written piece you've created. You're correct, a very cold way to live. You've done an excellent job and the emotions felt are truly raw. Job very nicely done. Good luck to you and thank you for sharing with us all.
