Thank you for sharing this acrostic contest entry with us. I'm struggling figuring out the word spelled out on the left. Maybe my brain is tired. Could you please let me know. Good luck with the contest.

This was a beautiful tribute to your sister using her name as the base for an acrostic. The colors of the lines did help to tell one line from the next. I also liked your picture, and I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

What an inspiring and uplifting write. I had a twin and it was like that for us. I was the smart student while John struggled. He finished an electrical engineer while I became a shop manager. A great read. It provoked guilt as wasted opportunity.

So your brother passed too? I do hope not.
In our case both Gemma and I had very good marks, but we loved very different subjects.
Thanks for your review, Bob. And I'm sorry if I made you experience any unwelcome feelings.

That is lovely, I get the pact from being a younger brother all pacts relied on the or else. I love the final image of standing and waiting. Good luck withe the entry.

It is a lovely picture Heather. In particular the expression on your face as you look at your sister. A poignant poem, it makes me think of my sister. I love your line,
And then one day tou hid behind the clouds. Lovely presentation Heather,

Cheers
Valda

    Your sister passed away too?
    Thanks so much for reading.xxx

No, though she is very frail. I thought it would be a race between my husband and my sister, but Tony has been gone nearly 4 years now and my sister still struggles on. 🥰🥰

So sorry to hear that. I didn't know you were a widow or maybe I didn't remember. I hope you're doing well. It must be really tough to lose the person you've shared most of your life with. xxx

I can understand how you feel, my dear brother passed about the same time, you were obviously very close, just like my two girls. She was too young to be taken away so cruelly Maria, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Thanks for another sweet review, Roy. I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a sibling, a spouse or a parent is always hard. Losing a child must be unbearable.
    Take care.

Excellent entry for the Acrostic Poetry Contest. It's very sad. I have an older sister that lives in Madrid. We are 10 years apart. We lost touch. I have returned to visit her and my brother several times. I had a dream about her last night. Sisters have a strong bond.

I'm sorry for your loss, Heather. I like the juxtaposition of her behind the clouds and you on land.

Besitos y abrazos.

I'm sorry to hear you've lost touch with your sister, Marival, but it's kind of natural as you live so far away.
My sister was almost six years younger than me.
Next time you come to Madrid, please let me know, I'd love to meet you in person.
So far I've only met Ulla and Debra White. Ulla lives on the coast of Spain and Debra lives in Yorkshire, but we've become very good friends.
Thanks so much for the extra star. Not sure I deserve it. I think I'm only good at prose and free verse.
    Besos,
    MJ

Me and my sisters and my mother played all kinds of board games. My mom's mom"Gertrude" played Chinese checkers with us. my dad's parents and brother and his wife played 42, all the time. I loved the games. we learned you are given nothing and must earn what you want. Good lessons all around. Good writing.

Hello Maria.
This is sad and heartfelt and full of warm memories of your late sister who passed away nearly six months ago. My condolences, my friend. She must have been a wonderful companion and sounds like laughter filled the air with love and good times for both of you.
When you say she hid behind the clouds that is an interesting metaphor for her leaving you behind to face the world alone. I am so sorry.
Jesse

I think about her every day, but it's been worse for my brother-in-law, my nephews and my niece.
My brother-in-law has a girlfriend now and I'm happy for him.

This acrostic, Half a Heart, follows the main frame of GEMMA, as you remind the readers of the loss of your sister a few years back. I know it is hard as I have lost four and have another marking time. Sweet picture for sure.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Bill.
I only had two siblings. One died as a tiny baby because of complications of Down syndrome, and my sister passed away suddenly.
I'm glad you like the pic. It means the world to me.x
