Fleas will happen if you don't use sprays or give your puppy dog a bath in flea shampoo. Dogs are prone to having fleas and ticks in the spring, but you can get them under control.

I've read them all, and yours is the one I liked best. You have my vote. I liked the innocence, the Norman Rockwell picture, and the surprise ending. Well done. Good luck with the contest.

YIIIIKES!! This is only funny because (a) I know it's fiction and (b) it's not my dog or child.

Very well done, Mystery Writer. You made this work very well despite the limited word requirement! Good luck to you in the polls. xo

Hahaha! Oh dear! Someone's parents aren't going to be happy, that's for sure. Nice job conveying a complete story so briefly. Best of luck in the contest!

Haha! Very funny. You did an excellent job crafting a 55 word story that followed the rules in that it is humorous with a surprising twist at the end. Well done. Best wishes in the contest.

You made me smile with this humorous post and fleas are a nuisance to both dogs and humans. A fun read.

Suggestion for this line:

This is very cute even though fleas might have infested both Davey and Speckles! The picture is delightful and your very succinct flash imaginatively reflects the troubling scene. Personally, I would have preferred 'well-lit' which is a little more concise. But this is a very enjoyable story and a worthy contender! Well done and good luck! Debbie

Little Davey is like any worried parent over their child, except his is pet beagle. The kind vet understood the bond and delivered the prescription with humor.... a good shampoo to get rid of the fleas. Very cute. Good luck with the contest.

This was a very good story. The flow of this story was very good. It looks like you have 56 words instead of 55, I could be wrong. Otherwise, it is a good story, and the ending is very unexpected. Nice accentuating picture too.
