This is another excellent chapter. I can identify with Layla, my mom raised her girls to be independent. I married a guy who appreciated that, it has been 47 years. You are moving the story along nicely. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

I have always valued my independence. My husband appreciated it too and was convenient when he passed that I would be able to move forward. It was rough but I am still plugging on

Wow that was a very dramatic ending to this chapter, Carol, and I can't wait to see where you're taking this. Poor Ryan is totally befuddled and doesn't know what foot to stand on. Ulla xcx

Oh yes, you read where Alyssa was snatched... the drama just begins. And don't worry about Ryan... he was only after her for her money and success. Thanks so much for loving the story. Smiles, Carol

Oh!! That damned tattoo. But no one knows that Troy is in a hospital of sorts. Who else has that tattoo. Would it be Troy's brother? This was so exciting, but it would be awful if that man has murdered Allie!! Will they find the file? Not if Tommy can help it!! This was brilliant, my friend. Well done!!!! :) Sandra xxxx

My goodness, Sandra. I can't believe you've reader all these chapters today. I feel bad taking up so much of your time, but at the same time I am exhilarated that you love it. There's four childhood friends and the fifth one (didn't) who have the tattoo. So it's not a good clue because it could have been any of them. They need more proof.
Thank you so very much. Love ya, Carol

This chapter seems almost like another story as we learn how much Layla hates surprises and wants to keep her independence. Then Alyssa calls and Layla receives the ultimate surprise, someone grabs her sister and Alyssa screams that he is going to kill her. Great cliffhanger and I can hardly wait for the next chapter.

Yes, Layla is moving from one lifestyle to another, one she has no idea how to deal with. She's headstrong and will jump into the fire without thinking things through...Let's hope for the best.

It was so good that Alyssa was on the phone with her sister when this happened. Hopefully, Layla will take action and get help. This would be a great reason to postpone responding to a proposal...

Yes, Layla isn't prepared for what lies ahead with her sister, but she definitely wasn't prepared for a marriage with Ryan. Maybe she'll find herself somewhere in the chapters ahead.

I got lost for a moment when Layla was called by Allie, and Allie was distracted. Maybe just a couple or words to clarify it was Allie being distracted and Layla could see her on the video?
I also missed that Allie was not home and that was on Layla's mind...That is likely because I read chapter 9 first and got them out of order.

We have another chapter filled with mystery and suspense which ends in a cliffhanger. At this point, I don't suspect Ryan of anything malicious other than trying to be in all of Layla's business. I don't trust anyone else but Penny and Diane. Even though Layla didn't see who had their hand over her sister's mouth, she did see a tattoo, which seems to play an important role in this story.

I am amazed at your talent and imagination. I can't wait to see what you've envisioned for the next chapter.

Thank you, Lorraine. I truly do appreciate all your kind words and how you continue to follow the story. You're right about Ryan...he was only interest in the $$ Layla was capable of making. Diane was/is a good friend but knows when her head strong friend decides to do something, nothing or no one will stop her. Thanks again for reading and commenting. Smiles, Carol

Could you crank up the tension any more? I can't believe you can keep this all so straight. I am in awe of your talent. I can't let go of your story if you offered me money. I have no sixes to give. But you deserve them. I posted too. Karen :-)

There is more than one person with that tattoo then? A chapter filled with drama, and at the beginning I was looking for the link with the other characters, and you did it perfectly. Well done.
Wendy
Edit: The last vision was her sister was eyes filled with fear and a hand covering her mouth.

Yes, there are actually five boys who grew up in a rough part of town... four have the tattoo. they made a pact to always have each others back....time went on and they went separate ways.... some like Frankie held true to his promise.
Fixed the "was" and much appreciated.

Ah, that makes it even more interesting. While they might have each other's backs, one can be blamed for what another has done!
