Great start to a new book! Lots of interesting, realistic dialogue in this chapter. Tommy's timing was a little too close for comfort in rescuing Alyssa. I'm glad she is OK. Good plot and interesting characters so far. Hugs! Carol

Thanks for starting the new book, Carol. I hope you enjoy it. I doubt that I would enter a challenge like this one ever again because it makes the story move too fast. There's not enough time for the pleasantries and the small stuff. Thank you again.

I might have to read the rest after you finish it. It's a long drive out to the rehab center, and I'm trying to be there most days to encourage my husband. This has been a long journey.

Excellent first chapter in the contest, Carol. I'm already wondering if Troy is out to get his brother who was the one who put him in jail. Is the reason for Troy's incarcaration down to his 'Big Brother' just a way climb the climb the ladder? I'm hooked my friend, Well done. :)) Sandra xx

    My dear Sandra....
It's the middle of the night (here) and I happily have found your face smiling at me. I was so worried... and maybe I still should be? I'm so happy to see you and that you have found interest in my story. I shall keep you guessing as usual.

You set a fire under me and I am currently feeling the glow as I write this story. I'm glad the other one is behind me, and this one is just for fun. After After a few chapters, I've cut the length down....I worried it won't all fit into a month, but we shall see. I will give it my best shot.

So happy to see you...please let me know how you are doing? smiles, hugs, and love, Carol

If anyone can write a book in a month it's you, the writing machine. This is off to a riveting start with compelling characters. I like the way the story begins with Troy Sinclair discharged from prison, only to find out he is an ex-cop who will be looking for justice. I will be following.

Thanks for the encouragement, Lorraine. I hope you don't find the chapters too long, but it seems necessary in order to complete in time. Especially since I have to travel to N.C. and won't be able to write then. I'm going to give it my best shot.
I appreciate that you are following this one too.

This is an excellent first chapter. We will compete in the contest, writing a novel in a month. Anyway, I need to go back and read Chapter 1. I do not see any need for improvement in this chapter. Have a blessed day.

Thanks so much for catching this one. It's going to be a challenge to figure out the story and write it all in a month. Especially since my stories go off in tangents in so many directions. Have fun!

Hi Carol, if anyone can do it you sure can, Carol. So you've taken up this challenge and you're starting it off with a heck of a story. Now on to the next chapter. A big hug, Ulla xxx

I have no idea where this one is coming from, but the words are still spelling out so I write. I hope they don't run out until I finish the contest though.
    Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Oh my! This sounds like a hard one to follow and you're writing all of this book in a month! Wow!
As always you do a great job describing your characters and I sure hope Alyssa ran without those heels!

I couldn't imagine even wearing them anymore. LOL
I hope I can keep up with the challenge. Just found out tonight that I will be traveling to North Carolina near the end of the month. I'm going to give it my best shot though. Thanks so much, Helen.

So glad I found chapter one! I reviewed Chapter 2 by accident.
My only thought was her puffy red lips. Had she already been kissed? Had Botox? Put on too much lipstick? Curious minds get distracted easily. I love the tension you create by just enough action to keep me hanging.
Enjoyed, now I am looking for chapter 3!

I just posted "My lover's things". Covet your thoughts. Too mushy? Too much detail? I am exploring to see what I want to write....

Girlfriend! I've read published first chapters by big name crime/psychological drama/ mystery authors that are not as polished and titillating as this!

And your off! (I know you'll slay this challenge)

This has really set the stage, it is well written and relatable in its genre. The descriptions are real and the characters are very well portrayed. I read it in conjunction with chapter two, and found that each character was consistent and believable. I do stand corrected, but I always look for consistency in any given character. I know that we all do step out of "who we are" at times, but I think that is rarely so. Great writing, descriptive, imaginative and creative.

Thank you so much for reading, enjoying and commenting on my story. It's going to be a struggle to post a complete book in 30 days but I believe we're off to a good start.
