Fascinating story! And the last passage is a real triumph. You write fluently and persuasively and the only error I found was a spello- disolve ought to be dissolve.

Great job relating this true story, Sue...

What a blessing that it worked out that you and your sister have found one another!

I can just imagine the emotions as you visited your dad's grave.

Sometimes God opens doors for us!

BTW I hope you had a great birthday!

Oh, thank you so very much! Your kind words are truly appreciated! My sister and I have only met once as she is in California and I am in Boston. We talk frequently, but it would be amazing to be able to be with her again. Also, thank you for the nice birthday wishes!

Hello Sue, I am so happy that you not only found your father, although deceased, but you found a Sister. How special is that! Your thirty-eight year adventure was well worth the ride. Before I sign off, I want to wish you a very, very Happy Birthday. I hope your day is as special as your are.

Oh, thank you so much for your kind thoughts and birthday wishes! Yes, this was an incredible and wonderful story of my life, proving that there is a pot of gold somewhere over that rainbow, just have to look for it! LOL! Thank you again!

A few years ago, my husband found, via Ancestry, three of his brothers that his mother adopted out because she could not care for them. I hope that you and your Sister have many happy years together. Xo. Margaret

Thank you for sharing this nice news. I, as well, must pay tribute to Ancestry also for my successful search results. xo

Sue, you have a well-written story, one that is often repeated in this internet age. I'm glad your story turned out happy for you. I have also done some genealogy research. I found my Grandfather never married my Grandmother and that he served two terms in prison. Who knew?

And happy birthday, by the way! Good Job. Terry.

Oh, thank you so very much for this six-star, review! This was truly an amazing event in my life, and deserved to be shared. I felt extremely blessed and so rewarded for many years of not giving up my search. Along the journey, my drive strengthened from those who strived to convince me that I had been wasting my time. I won!

Ooooh, Susan, and would you believe this is the one day I used up all of my sixes in two days. OMGosh, I knew we had so much in common. I found out at forty something that I had another brother, and just when I needed one, since I had recently lost two of my three brothers. I will tell you at another time, but your story is lovely. And you did such a great job of writing it. I am so happy that you found each other. And I am happy that this is a happy one.
Once again, I loved your story, so please accept my virtual six!! Love, Debi

Also sweetie, do you check your PM messages, because I wrote you one a couple days ago. If you would like me to take the info off your profile and this story, I can do that, but I figured with your birthday only a couple days away, maybe you would like to have some control of what I add to it. Also I would like to know if you have any special songs I can add to your poem? Please contact me by tomorrow, OK?

Debi, thank you immensely! I was thinking, the short, (in comparison to the blah-blah-blah) details, lie very nicely within the bio's of my portfolio. My life is one that I'm just basically hanging onto until He's ready for me. I suffer with severe PTSD, have 3 grown children who just don't get me and my so called, "Excuses" for my depression, over-sensitivity, anxiety, over analyzing people, socially uncomfortable, and the list can go on. On a positive side, I unconditionally love my grown children and 6 beautiful grandchildren who only live within 10 miles from me, but my kids remember when my PTSD exploded into my brain to ruin everything truly wonderful for my amazing family. They have never forgiven me or attempted to understand what or why this sudden bomb fell on us. My writing is an escape. I also have Cockatiels that give me reason to get out of bed each day.
Aren't you happy you asked. Don't feel bad. My few friends are here on FanStory. I had been wasting my time on a stupid Casino Game, wasting money on it every month and I just deleted it so I can get back to writing my book and utilize my mind a bit differently. Debi, thanks again, and please do not worry if you cannot get to my birthday poem. It is quite okay. I'd rather you'd write a happy story for someone. You are so very sweet and I am glad we connected. xo

Well, thank you so very much for such kind thoughts and this awesome review! Oh, yes... to think if I had given up at some point? Trust me, there were several times during the unexpected let-downs, that tossing my stacks of research notes certainly crossed my mind. It's all about determination and a strong faith! Thank you again!
reply by XinaD on 04-Mar-2024
I nearly did toss mine. But reading this, you've renewed my faith. Seriously, thank you.

What a beautiful story. I love stories like this. Sometimes I hate the fact that solcial media arrived and has become such a huge part of our lives but then when I hear of things like this I have to reconsider and view it as a blessing. A wonderful entry for the True Story contest. Well written. Good luck.

Thank you so very much, Marilyn! My search began in my senior year of high school when social media was no more than buying a local news paper or watching the television news each day. LOL! Research was all hands on then, CRAZY! For example, about 3 days per week, after school, I sat at the Copley Square Library in Boston, and one book at a time, wrote down ALL of the phone numbers from each individual town's "White Pages" phone book, with the same name as my real dad! (California). **and on, and on, and on! The internet has saved so many people from giving up on similar goals as mine. So, yes, I agree, disadvantages, but also advantages. Thank you again for your kind thoughts and review!

What a very cool story. I am so glad this worked out so well for you.

I wonder how common finding lost relatives is. Seems like more and more stories like this are popping up.

Great read.

Yes, quite the adventure of a lifetime! This was a goal of mine for 38 years and once the hard work gave way to completion, I had to find a new goal to work towards. I now have a closet full of first chapters to my book. I'll write chapter one and then decide to change it, over and over! EEEK! LOL! Thank you for the great review!

This is a very nice story. Truly heartwarming. I'm glad you found your real dad. It was sad that he passed away, though. The story was written and I could easily follow along. Great job
