Like your poem. I'm sure if the police lights come on you will have a ticket saying, I told you so. The warning ticket will prove you were speeding. It's always something we do when we see the green light, we pass on go!

This poem made me think of a phrase we used in my home state, although I never remember actually doing this. We would say, "They're going to go drag State (Street)." I think it had more of a connotation of going out on the town to see who else was out driving around and not actually racing. The last two lines point out that there are consequences to risky-fun behavior like racing.

I believe the world would have a few more people if some reckless youngsters had thought twice before pushing that pedal to the floor. So many stupid tragedies for a few seconds of fun!

Thank you! Street racing is almost a thing of the past. People who enjoy racing do it at a Drag Strip, it is controlled with safety in mind.

Good temptation theme. Should I floor it and race, or not? You have a smooth poetic form and this is an usual theme. You also have a smooth flow of rhyming words that adds to the picture of a drag race. Best wishes for the contest.

I like how you went a different way with this temptation contest. I remember after I got my license I was driving with my brother. He's older than me and we were in a spot where the cops never sit in the country. He yelled at me to go faster and called me a grandma. I got it up there to 95 that day. My parents would have died if they had known.
