Hi Debbie, you have surpassed yourself with this beautiful and well written poem. In Denmark I grew up learning about him and when he was assassinated the whole country was in shock as was the world. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Ulla xcx

Exquisite poetry. Important historical presentation of a man who endured FBI and CIA harassment, wiretaps, blackmail threats, and immoral attempts to besmirch his character to weaken the civil rights movement.

You are unequaled in your bio-poetry, Debbie.

As a grandmom to three mixed race children, with a Black daughter in law I see this as your most personally important post in this genre.

I will be so pleased to share this with them!

Black History Month! What an ideal time to share MLK's life and accomplishments!

What a wonderful man, and an excellent write. As an Aussie, I knew his name and I've read of his courage in opposing the discrimination against his people. Your posting told me much more. What a pity we don't have more people of this quality around today.

Thank you so much, Bob, for this very kind review which is an honour to receive! I agree wholeheartedly that it's so sad that we have no one to compare because, above all, he was remarkably brave taking on civil rights cases that would only ever put him in danger from the public and the authorities. Apparently, wherever he went there would often be secret safe accommodation in which he would hide. Sadly, not so on the day he was killed. Take care Debbie

another masterful tribute. You need to publish these as a chapbook. and or on your web page. I can help with the later - Medium, Substack and Wattpad offer great places to post your work - don't even need a blog to do so just cut and paste and there you are. Spread the word you are on medium etc. Of the three Medium is the best known, Substack is quite good and Wattpad as well. I prefer Substack. All offer free and paid options -I paid for Medium as otherwise you can only post five per month, the other sites don't have a limit on postings. These are US-based platforms but have worldwide readership. I am sure that there are UK equivalents.

Excellent historical poem about Martin Luther King Jr. Such a beautiful soul and extraordinary man. His speech will last forever in history and people's hearts. He changed so many people. Very informative author notes too.

Debbie, this is a great post about Martin Luther King Jr. I have always liked and respected him and the things he said. It made me sad when someone took his life. Great descriptive words and nice picture and speech. love and blessings, Teri

Thank you for this beautiful poem about this admirable, beautiful, and extraordinary man. Your lines and stanzas have summarized his life, the essence of who he was, and what he stood for in a moving and eloquent way.

He was quite a man. I learned a lot about him that I hadn't heard before in reading you well-written and informative poem and notes. I wonder if you realize on the seventh stanza you changed the rhyme pattern which I really liked, but you may have wanted them consistent. You really do a lot of research on these biographies in poetry.

Debbie, you presented a great tribute to Martin Luther King from your poetic strength.

You gave us in brief, his life's story from childhood to adulthood inclusive of points not widely known.

Every year on his birthday, someone reads his I've Got a Dream speech on the radio.

Thank you for sharing your research with us on this great American fighter!

John

Thank you so much for this lovely, thoughtful review, John! How amazing that his speech can continue to be heard annually on his special day. A shame we don't have charismatic leaders like him in the world today! Take care Debbie

If we only did, the world would be in a much better position then with current heads of state.
    Thanks, Debbie

Unless I'm an idiot, I've just read February's Poem of the Month. This slayed me (to use the common teenager's parlance!). The flawless metre, rhyme, internal rhyme and storytelling is an absolute tour de force. I teach a history subject in which MLK features prominently and I'm very familiar with his story, so to see the way you've outlined it here in verse impressed me deeply. Thanks so much for the share, Debbie! :)
