LOL, no wonder this won. The picture is outstanding. The story you tell in the story takes your reader along with you and we feel the cold. And we feel the warmth of the fire and smile at the rhymes. Excellent. Terry.

The effort was surely worth the time. This is a good ekphrastic sonnet. It is a great photo that makes me cold just looking at it. I don't think any of us is made to walk in the cold. Though, some us do try.

Thank you for great review. Of course, it isn't a real stalactite. It is shaped like one. real ones hang down from the tops of caves while stalacmites build from the bottom of caves in the same shape. I do appreciate the review and comments.

You are a brave woman, my friend. Old Man Winter's breath froze in midair around here this week. Temperatures have been below zero with chill factors of -30 or more. I buried in a long sweater and a heavy blanket, but my toes are still cold. Thank heavens for Instacart.... groceries and medicine to my door. Though I loved that spectacular picture and poem...please think warm, balmy thoughts. LOL

Thank for the nice review. I thought I would freeze yesterday because my heat isn't keeping up. Today I brought in a huge electric heater that will run my bill our of site but I needed to be warm.
