Yes, it is tough to be alone, or the first time you have to go through the holidays grieving the loss of a loved one. What a wonderfully written poem!
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

A poignant write about loneliness and how the celebrations are meaningless when on your own. I spent one Christmas on my own during he pandemic when I was unable to see my family and it was difficult, but I made the most of it, love Dolly x

Yes it hurts when life has left a person without family and friends to share holidays and special occasions with. So many lonely people. Well written. Best wishes for your entry.

This is such a sad piece of poetry written in 2-4-2 format. The statistics of suicides tends to go up in the holiday season as people find themselves alone while other people are surrounded by family. Very sad!

Good entry for the 2-4-2 writing prompt contest.
Good syllables count but disconnected between lines.
I appreciate your writing talent. Well done!

Your poem strikes the heart strings. It is no fun being alone on the holidays, but my experience has taught me there are many lonely people. If you're lonely make a new friend or join in the holiday with the magic of television. Good luck in the contest.

Poor little cowboy. A lot of us are alone or in between.
Friends and family are thinner on the ground. We aren't willing to get all dressed up for a bad time. There are no little grandchildren and great-grandchildren to watch in a frenzy of wrapping paper, and sugar highs. No one knows how to play 42. So, where's the fun? Karen

I like the way that this piece is open to interpretation and full of possibilities - an important goal for a piece with limited syllables. Why is this person alone? What is the cause of their hurt? Thanks for the share and good luck in the contest.

Ordinarily, I'd invite you to East Rochester, NY, to share the holiday with the Allens. But Bobby and I are BOTH in the throes of COVID at the moment, so eating anything we've made and sitting around our germ-riddled house would not be much of an act of hospitality on our part!
I am sending you love, though, Mystery Contestant, and hoping you find a way to enjoy the holiday. xoxox
