Congratulations! I enjoyed reading this very much - it's easy to read and it's extremely clever. There are too many rule breakers these days. Keep writing! All the best to you!

Beth, just when I didn't think I couldn't love you more, you write a perfect poem with a perfect picture, and the most perfect stanza. I was totally enjoying it already, when I read:
This country runs on a fair set of laws.
A leader who breaks them, should give us pause.
I couldn't resist; it seemed to slip out.
Don't worry; it's not what this poem's about

You just hit on something that gets Debi angry, so I walk out when my husband has the news on. I just as soon sit in another room with my head in the sand than see what horrible things they are doing to our country. All I know is that I choose to follow God's law, and when democrats are in it doesn't happen that way. And I don't like being angry. I like being thankful. But it was Obama's daughter who pretty much made the law that marriage should be any sex that they darn well please. I was shocked when I heard the speech from him telling that she came home from school crying because her friends two mommies can't get married, so he upped and changed the law. Then I started to celebrate and got so excited when Roe vs Wade was overturned and abortion would become illegal again, and then I heard biden and our governor say they would do everything in their power to change it back. I am sick up to the top of my head with those that throw out God's law. So thank you for that part, and sorry for making such a big deal and long speech out of my anger, but I like being happy and there is little else besides injustice can make me lose my happiness.. I don't even let pain get in the way, but God knows who is against Him. And as long as we are for Him, then we can be happy in knowing that we stand behind what is right in the real law.

Thank you tho for this lovely poem. I did love it all so much. Just wish I could give a six for the whole poem and one for that one part. You did get a laugh out of me tho, since I was not expecting it. So kudos to you, my sweet friend. Awesome job.

Thank you some much for the review, Debi. I was shocked that this even made it into the winner circle since I was just having fun with it.
I do agree there is a lot wrong with our country and the ideals we once held dear seem to have gone out the window. The political parties don't appear to stand for American values any more which is why I can't call myself a member of either of them. Both sides have have leaders and congressmen willing to toss laws aside and do their own thing. We can only pray for our country. You are so sweet to pay me such lovely compliments. I love you too.

A fun one for the no rules contest. A country or even a home without rules or a code of behavior clearly is no fun. I appreciate your point of view, wit and wisdom. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Thank you Sally. I'm glad you found this fun. Actually it was fun to write since you don't have to think very hard to realize nature itself is based on rules. Without rules our children would grow up wild and out of control.

You've written this with tongue in cheek, but your words are so true. Without rules, the sun could rise at any given time - imagine the poor rooster! There has to be some rules in life. Chaos is overrated...

Enjoyed your poem and you know I completely agree with you about leaders who break all kinds of rules. I don't know why his party is so willing to swallow camels and strain at the other party's gnats.
I like your humorous take on the "No Rules" name of the contest. Best wishes in it!

Thank you Helen. I think politically we think a lot alike. I know many others on this site do as well. Sometimes I'm surprised at someone who I think of as wise, but who obviously thinks differently. I really would love to know more about how they reached the conclusion they did, but I'd doubt if they want to talk about it. I have family who thinks differently but discussion of the subject causes anger and the feeling they are being judged. We don't need those disagreements on this site.

You're right about that! We don't need that kind of contention. And those topics need to be banned from holiday dinners! 😊💖

Very cleverly worded poem for this contest. As some may say... rules are made to be broken... and often times it ends up in disaster, disagreement or heartbreak if they are. And sometimes one person's breaking the rules affects so many others... (but no, not going there are we! Lol)
Thanks for sharing this and good luck in the contest.

Thank for the review and neat comments. It a little dangerous to get too political. LOL I'm trying to restrain myself.

Hahahaha. More and more these days, Beth, rules don't seem to be in place. I'm sure this is not news to you.

Did you ever read the cartoon Calvin and Hobbes? Ten-year-old Calvin and his stuffed (though, in Calvin's mind, he was real) tiger used to play a game they invented called "Calvinball." The only rule was that you could not have the same rule twice. HAHAHAHAHA. These days, I feel like every day we're playing Calvinball.

Very fun entry. I hope it does well for you in the contest. xo

Thank you Rachelle. I'm not familiar with that cartoon but it sounds like what goes on these days. It seems the rules change faster than we can keep up. I'm glad you liked my entry. I appreciate the review. I'll check out the cartoon. Brett Matthew West has a series going on cartoons and I gotten familiar with quite a few.

I mis-wrote that Beth; it's a comic strip. There are a million Calvin and Hobbes books out, too. I find them hilarious...but, then, I'm as immature as life gets, so keep that in mind. I have visions of you reading one and saying out loud to yourself, "What is WRONG with her!"

No, I love comic stirps and never truly grew up but I no longer take a paper. When I did I read them all. I love witty cartoons.

LOL, Beth, very clever. And good luck in the contest. I hope the committee will look on the side of humor when they make a decision. I also think a leader who has broken the rules should be kicked out forever and a day. Excellent. Terry.

It is amazing to think of the laws there are in the universe, such as gravity. It makes me really think the universe arrived by no mere accident, otherwise everything would be all over the place. A really well written piece, Beth. Good luck in the contest.
