Thank you for sharing this story with us. I couldn't help but laugh too. I'm glad Mary put this jerk in his place. He deserved it and much more. I hope he got the message and left other women alone too.

I'm glad you find this funny. I'm still laughing, and it was 30 years ago. Thanks.

Some of your spelling's a bit off, but this is such a wonderful piece of Americana one can excuse it. I can just picture the scene because of the excellent description and dialogue. Well done.

This is a very interesting true story you have penned. I bet you have seen a lot of really interesting things on the road. If I had been that man I would not show back up there either. You used very good descriptive words and neat imagery from the art work you chose. Blessings, Teri

I absolutely love your walk down memory lane of your diner experience!
Your expressive words definitely paint us the clear picture of Mary. Sounds like quite the lady for sure!
And then how she handles that icky cowboy wantabe! I can hear the laughter echoing throughout the diner. She is definitely one memorable lady! Thanks for sharing this with us.

Very nicely written.
I stopped there two, early mornings a week - comma not needed
I like Diners. - This, as well as the next two 'diners' shouldn't be capitalized.
doucebag - Did you mean douchebag?
Best wishes.

Brilliant retort! I love that sort of thing. No wonder you remembered Mary for her wit and confidence. Your story reads well with excellent pace, build-up and a fine and humorous ending. That it's true as well is the icing on the cake. Well done! Debbie

It sounds like Mary's got a mouth on her but I sure the rest of the driver crowd enjoyed his put down to the fullest. I'm sure no one else would risk getting embarrassed by her. I enjoyed this true story. I imagine a truck stop would be the perfect place to find inspiration for stories.

Thanks for the kind review. I see you're from the Burgh. Wait till you read "Northside Charades." It happened at the Strip District.

I like the "folksy" style of your writing and your sense of humor. I have met a lot of people like the ones in this chapter. Mary's put-down was a new one to me. I think I'd like that lady.
