Wow. That cartoon is very powerful. It's difficult to justify the vast sums spent on armaments when you watch the destruction they are causing on the nightly news - destruction among today's children who are losing their families and suffering greatly, and will grow into adults filled with rage and a thirst for vengeance. It becomes a generation-to-generation proposition.

Remember when Christ had his feet washed? He wasn't being selfish, but teaching us a principle. Somedays, it seems like our government has no principles, just a love of spending money that isn't theirs.

It is sad to see the current state of the world, I agree, countries are far more concerned about funding their wars rather than looking after their own people. Good luck in the contest.

You highlight a really tricky situation here in a thoroughly successful rhyming poem. It's a dilemma when your country regards itself as the policeman of the world! Good luck with this entry in the competition.

This is very difficult to argue. Homelessness is rampant. I shouldn't wonder when all of this 'fantasy' money isn't going to catch up with us, or maybe it already is in the form of inflation.

I feel very much like you do. It seems like whenever Congress votes on an appropriation bill it's to give "aide" toUkraine or Israel, and key domestic services are cut or short-changed. Your message comes through loud and clear. Rod

Your post is written well and I don't use this platform to debate anyone. I just want you to know that all of my life i have had, and still have, a great faith in God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit. God never forsakes us. He's given us commands to love one another and to not judge others. That's very simply declared by God. If we are debating about our government siding to protect Democracy in the world, so that people can enjoy the free will that God has given to us, them, something is wrong. God can truly see through each of us right to our hearts. Mixing God into political conversations is most likely not pleasing to God. That matters to me and your opinions matter to me, let's all keep our focus on love and not judging though because of we don't, we will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven, whether or not we think we will. It's up to God. Have a good day.
Best wishes friend,
Alexandra

That is so true ! There shouldn't be any wars, but some people are so greedy, fierce, proud of themselves and despising those they consider as their inferiors...
Thank you for sharing this text and good luck.

I just love the comic that you have as your clever image Laural.
The whole thing is really a terrible mess and has been for such a very long time.
I really enjoyed the flow of your poem...
All my best for you in this contest,
Lisa

I enjoyed your well written poem very much and the cartoon is perfect! I didn't realise that the same problem exists around the world. Here in UK the richer are getting very much richer and the poor are struggling to put food on the table and heat their homes!! The government definitely think they are above the rest of us.
