Well done. Amazing what one can put on paper and offer the vulnerabilities of the Human spirit. I had no idea of TW background. It makes his writings all the more remarkable. Very nice piece and thanks for the education.

Where do you find the time to write so much and so well? You are amazing.

Nice poem about Tennessee Williams. His work is exceptional. Naming his work was very informative. Great word imagery.

Well done!

Thank you so much, Gypsy, for this lovely review and thoughts! It was only when I did a 50 word flash the other day that I realised how easy my life could be! They do seem to be taking up more and more of my time but I do enjoy them, once started (that's the difficult bit) Debbie x

That is a great way to give readers the story of someone they may have heard of and think they know. We need to show the younger generation better examples to follow.

This was an excellent piece about the life of Tennessee Williams. I remember studying him in college, especially A Streetcar Named Desire. His life really was a sad one and you explored it well in your writing. I really enjoyed it.

I'm not sure how I missed this one, but I did. It's another famous playwright, Tennessee Williams! His life is painful to read about though but made for some of his best characters. I admit, I do the same in my stori. There's a little bit of me in each one. Another FanStory prize, I see. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the poem of the month.

Thank you so much, Sally, for your kind review and thoughts, always greatly appreciated! I think most writers must draw on elements of themselves which make their story credible and, often, quite a positive experience. Thank you again for your time and good wishes. The very best of luck to you too, Debbie xos

You've been a busy woman! First i read about Arthur Miller and now this great work on Tennessee Willims. You gave him a total treatment and, though his lifestyle may not have met with everyone's approval, his works speak for themselves. Just naming those works one by one brings vivid images to our mind-the characters, the actors, the lines. What a great writer!

Thank you so much, Jim, for your kind review and thoughtful comments. These playwrights really fascinate me with the way they bring their own experiences (sometimes quite grim ones) to vivid life on the stage. He was quite remarkable in changing the face of theatre. Thanks so much, Debbie

Thank you! I'm glad you are so much on the mark about thee greats. A teacher once told me I was "An up and coming Eugene O'Neill". She didn't know how wrong she was!

One of the early plays I saw that really left an impression on me was Streetcar. Like your piece on Arthur Miller, I learned a lot from this read about how his early life played out in his art. It's a dilemma. These artists produced such great work, but it was born from such torture. If their lives had been happier, would they never have produced their great works for us to enjoy?

Thank you so much for your kind review and thoughtful comments! I think you're so spot-on in your conclusion that, without the unhappiness and soul-searching of his youth, that insight, anger and creativity might never have been realised in his works. Debbie

This is definitely your wheel house, my friend. I loved this piece you have crafted.
This in particular struck a nerve.
Those barbs so sharp from drunken rage
would fuel artistic fire.
Thank you for sharing.
God bless,
Steve

well, that is certainly sad, though very well written in verse!
The sadness of his unstable family life was truly portrayed on the stage. It's too bad he couldn't have had a happier life with his successes.
This was very informative, explaining his personality and his writings.
Interesting read.

You have written a terrific poetic biography of Tennessee Williams, the playwright. You make it very clear how his own family life influenced the plays he wrote and how his death was tragic. I loved to teach STREETCAR and had my students act out key scenes. Rod
