Rod, as a long-time English teacher and poet, I know you are familiar with the poem of the same title by Thomas Moore. I do love his poem. Your sonnet does a nice job of reminding us to stop and see and smell the roses. Terry.

would this poem be considered an ode to the last rose in the garden about to wither away.
that's what I think it's about I like this poem it flow easy and you can imagine how each line in your head because you used lots of imagery

This is a well written sonnet with good rhyming and a lovely constant rhythm throughout. It reads well and the photo is great too. I would however, change your last but one line slightly as the repeat of two 'swiftly''s directly after each other doesn't quite work for me. I would have said something like 'since that which swiftly blossoms swiftly dies.'

As much as I hate summer and love fall and winter, this is a sad poem as I love the beautiful flowers that come with the season.
A lovely way to use the rose to say goodbye to summer. I really like the last line, which is a poetic form of "stop and smell the roses".
