I love this holiday haiku so much! My spirit animal is a wolf.
Beautiful presentation and imagery. I love the amber moon and the mother's cry.
Good syllables count and connection between lines.
Well done!

The first two lines of this poem flow and connect well. The last line is
thought provoking and ends this poem well. Thank you for the author's
notes - they give a lot of meaning to these words. The artwork is
perfect and compliments this poem. Have a great week!....Maria

You do the same;)

Good picture to accompany your words. I enjoyed your short Haiku, and I appreciate your notes of explanation. Winter is often a difficult time for animals to find food, and your poem points that out nicely. Blessings. Carol

Have not read a Haiku for awhile...
Love this one of yours and the image of the wolf and the colors you chose.
I wish you the very best of luck in the Full Moon Haiku club event.

This is a well planned haiku about the wolf moon. I didn't know about the different moon names .Except may be Hunter's moon. Then it is the Blue moonNo?
a very good entry for the club event.

I?m not sure about the Hunter?s moon, the names were new to me as well.
The wolf moon spoke to my Choctaw heritage and became my muse.
Thank you for the review and enjoy your Sunday:)

Yes, the full moon in January has many beliefs by native Americans and others who believe the superstitions of their ancestors. I love the alliterative choice of wolves howling in the night by the full moon because Mother Nature doesn't provide enough shelter and food for their pups during the winter months.
This speaks to their caring nature to always provide for their young.

I had originally written the satori as
a Mother?s love, great that you picked up on that.
Thanks for the review, Jesse and have a great Sunday:)
-
You too.
Enjoy the upcoming week as well.

I love the pic , mesmerising and I love the poem and the myth behind the wolf's howl.
That said, I love reading about wildlife.
Usually wolves breed in , February /March and give birth in May , June.
They are already eating regurgitated meat at 6 weeks from their mother and other adult members.
At 4/5 months through play they start to learn the first steps needed to hunt and start to kill small prey : rabbits ,
At six months( January /February) the "cubs " join the pack and start hunting bigger prey.

Kitty,
This is such an awesome poem. The photo is beautiful and your words capture the essence of a wolf.
I like the symbolism you employ with the noun, mother.
I've yet to hear a wolf howl (in person), but some say it is a hauntingly beautiful sound.
Good luck, Kitty!
Blessings,
Cindy

Thanks for the review,Carol.

Hi, I hear coyotes, hyenas, and jackals are really dangerous to people? I read wolves aren?t so much?
You must live in a remote place, Kitty. You are lucky to be close to nature.
Have a nice Sunday,
Cindy
-
I actually live in the suburbs beneath mountains and coyotes have jumped on into my backyard, that?s how hungry they are.
-
Kitty,
I live in a small city/town and we have to watch out for deer while driving, and the occasional bear that gets lost from his home in the woods.
Have a nice week,
Cindy

This haiku, Wolf Moon, presented with a 6-4-4 formatting, creates a scene where the lonely cry in the haunted night reminds us of the dangers within the darkness.

Wolves howl to find a mate, or that's what I thought. But here you have a different meaning and it sounds like a cry for help here, a poignant write, love Dolly x
