It appears that living in the Valley is wet or dry, author. Climate change has affected all the world. Where rain was in good supply now the floodgates are open, or it's dry to the bone. It hurts us all. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so very much. It's always been a bit like that here. But climate change is felt..

This was an interesting tribute to your valley. It sounds like a great place to live. Sorry, your cherries are gone. Well done. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

This is quite a depressing scenario. The village has suffered a lot from loss of yield etc. Now the rains will shower more havoc. I hope the villages will face this with courage..
all the best for the contest..

Well, it's not that depressing actually. It's sad wth the cherries and the rain is much needed. Tomorrow the valley will emerge into the sunshine. Thanks so much.

Sounds like a wonderful place to live and it would have been so beautiful when all the cherry trees were flowering. A pity that's now in the past. You wrote well of your beautiful villages and your home area. Best wishes for the contest.

It sounds like you live in an unusual and interesting place. One question, Do the separate villages have names? I'm not sure I would like living in such and isolated area, but to each their own. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you much for your lovely review. Oh, but we are far from isolated. We have a doctor and nurse we can see every single day with or without an appointment. They are in each village at certain hours. They even make house calls for those too old or sick to go there. We have another medical center ten minutes further down the valley which is open 24/7 . The hospital is twenty minutes away. We have a butcher, a farmacy, and a general store with fresh produce every day. What more can we ask? The fisherman comes up three times a week with fresh fish from the Med. And if we do crave a supermarket, it's ten minutes away. Lol. We're far from isolated. Just a beautiful unspoilt piece of nature. Thanks for your best wishes.

Oh, I forgot to answer your question. Yes, each village has a name.
Comment from Paul Manton
Well, the running of the bulls sounds like Pamplona, but I mustn't jump to conclusions.
I like everything about his piece except for one improvement I should like to suggest: Para 1 brilliant! Para 2 redundant! In fact, worse than redundant, because having made a really bold entry in 'the middle of the story' (excellent and exciting) you then try to apologize and chicken out in para 2. LOSE para 2! It is unnecessary and disturbs the flow of the story.
After that, everything works really well. The facts are presented in a logical and chronological way, told very easily and naturally. It is interesting all the way through - and it has a natural conclusion.
Good luck in the competition!

Thank you so much, Paul, and I really appreciate what you're saying. But I can't get rid of that paragraph just yet as I would fall foul of the word cont. Thanks so much again. Ulla:)))

Oops! I hadn't thought of that.
You probably should remove your name as this is a blind contest.
Good luck with the piece.

I know, how do I do that? Oh dear!

go back to your replies sent. You should be able to edit it from there.
I hope. I know it's possible.

Your story is wonderful and sort of a "You need to guess where i live!"
Of course as I live in Costa Blanca, Spain I found it quite easy to know, but wonder if others will pick up your hints?
I would love to know exactly where this is???
Rain started here about two hours ago...And, is so welcome..Of course it is still hot and humid ...
I wish you the very best of luck in the contest,

Hi Lisa, thank you so very much for a lovely review. I think a few writers will know who I am but we will still have to pretend. I will send you a PM. Thanks again

Oh I knew who you were... ha ha
Comment from Wayne Fowler
Sounds like a very nice place to live - if it would only rain.
And then the change in the weather, we'd all been looking for, arrived. - commas not needed
each having a population of roughly 250 souls each, - You can safely lose one of the 'eaches'.
But the climate change put paid to that. - I don't understand this sentence.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much, Wayne. I have made a note of what the expression means. It a well used UK English expression. I didn't know it wouldn't be understood in the US.. Ulla:)))
Comment from Terry Broxson
You have taken a different approach to this contest than most folks. But like Robert Frost, it's the road less traveled. Your story of your valley is beautifully written.
On suggestion in the 8th paragraph, one sentence looks confusing. "But the climate change put paid to that." You might look at that and make sure it says what you want it to say.
Well done. Good luck. Terry.
