Some people are like rolling stones. They nerver stay anywhere for long. They are contsantly on the move searching for something they don't have. They leave broken hearts behind but some times they meet someone they want and find them gone leaving them with a broken heart..

Wow, Iza, this goes deep into some dark soul searching. I liked it a lot. I believe most of us have been looking for that soulmate but never really found it. All the best of luck. Ulla :)))

Absolute perfection. If I had written it myself, I could not have been this good.
I am glad we are fanned so I don't miss a lick.Great great work here. You crept up on me. Pulled me in with longing. I wanted to know if the man died of longing for this woman. Then to be gobsmacked with it being the sun and moon. Such mastery I swear. I worship at your feet. Karen

Thank you so much Karen:) I was musing with this expression gone with the wind, and from there I had no idea where I will land:) I am happy that we fan each other too:)

Truism?
So, we mate with 'alike' people and then our soulmate (Gone With the Wind) reappears, blown in unexpectedly?
Gone with the wind, returned with the storm. - I don't think you need this comma.
Best wishes.

How sad it is, he saw her, fell in love, longed for more, and was gone. How sad when we mate with disappointing people and before we know it, they are "Gone with the Wind." As your story says, "What a tragedy." Best wishes in the contest.

Aww that's a sad one, Iza! A tragedy indeed! A love that was lost in the wind. Mind you she does have stunning eyes so she could afford to be choosy. And now he must settle, perhaps, for second best like so many of us. As ever, a stunningly thought-provoking story from your inventive pen. Well done and good luck! Debbie

This traveler is truly a romantic as he knew nothing about that woman except that first impression. It's too bad he believed only his feelings as real love has to be tested through living and forgiving on a daily basis.
Best wishes in the contest!

Ooh, that's a bit dark Iza! 'Brief as the lightning', as Juliet said. A fascinating little piece, most unlike your usual stuff. Really mysterious and enjoyable. Well done and good luck.

Thank you for sharing this flash fiction contest entry with us. It was interesting to read. I wonder how many people never meet their soulmate and settle. I have a feeling more than we care to admit. Good luck with the contest.
