I really enjoyed this one, and you managed to bring in all the artist's names, without breaking the rhythm! That was really well done. I think it's a wonderful entry for the contest, and wish you the best of luck. :) Sandra xx

Thanks, Sandra. I always get a chuckle out of Cheezel's antics myself!

My goodness, what a brilliant story poem, with some great antipodean phrasing, and an endless collection of well known and not so well known artists, (at least to me) displaying your considerable abilities with poetic technique, brilliantly done my friend, most entertaining, and great expertise, blessings Roy

Roy, many thanks for the great review! Despite the phrasing, Cheezel is determinedly English - he's been to Ascot and to a Pirates' Convention in Blackpool in other poems. Another reviewer accused me of showing off my university knowledge, but to tell the truth I've never had an art lesson in my life!
These poems are just great fun.

Okay. So are you showing off what you learned in a university, for few individuals would know of such artists unless they themselves were involved with art.

Your poem was a superb and fun read. It is a poetic delight with the meter and rhyme of an artist. It is a clever and fun read that I did enjoy reading. Thank you for sharing.

A superb read. Thank you for the author's notes, they really helped me, having never read the series of books to which you refer.

Great layout, a rollicking read. A clear contender for this competition.

Best of luck,

Jacqueline

Hello Steve,
I'd be cheating the Weasel if I didn't bestow six stars or six slabs of cheese for his masterpiece. Great fun to read and a poetic delight as well with
meter and rhyme of an artist.
I have a hunch you're right about Munch not rhyming with lunch, but who cares.
Great story.
Best wishes.
Robert

Many thanks, Robert. Not sure if weasels go for cheese. We're actually trying to eliminate them in NZ - they are devastating for our native wildlife and our flightless birds.

Munch could always 'Scream' if he doesn't like the way I've used his name!

Thanks, Dolly. I always get a kick out of writing a Cheezel poem. Someone just described this as 'rollicking' and that's just what I was trying to do.

Cheezel seems to do whatever takes his fancy. Painting has his attention and crowds gather to watch as he creates his masterpiece. Like all great artists, he does it his way no matter what anyone suggests. Love that he took it all in stride and hung the painting in a place where he can admire his work.
Best of luck in the contest.

    Thank you.
Yes, Cheezel certainly goes his own way. Lovable perhaps, but in an anti-hero sort of way!

Well, Cheezel has a sane view of art and apparently is quite talented to be compared to so many famous artists! But I'm now wondering between you and damommy, which of you came up with the artist weasel first? When I first started here, she posted a book about Wally the Weasel.
Loved all your fun internal rhymes and even the stretch of Munch's name. Best wishes in the contest!

Ha! I remember the impostor Wally now. I've done a little digging and discovered that he didn't hit the scene until 2016. Cheezel is not only more interesting, but has also been around longer - his debut was a contest winner in 2012!

Many thanks for the kind words. These poems are always fun as I stretch my wordplay wings.

Oh, well - that was certainly way before I started here so thank you for setting the history straight! I'm going to have to talk to Yvonne as I've been asking for more Wally stories...
