Well this is a change of pace! I can't help but think of it as a metaphor for aging (ah, because this is where I "live" these days!)
I used to run wild and free...then slowed my pace, and suddenly found a walking stride that worked...that became tenuous at best.
I took a fall down some stairs on February 9th of this year. (My bicycle crash moment)
Blessed be, I managed to survive--and have even "healed!"
(Ah, but the nagging thought of that terrifying fall shadows me down every staircase...whispers to me when I venture off the beaten path at the park)
I'm just now learning to be thankful for the "pogo sticks" of life. Even a broomstick would be fine!)
I might well have been gone for good but for a fortuitous landing!

Yes indeed! I don't have the latest model..but this old "Ford" with the rust and the "dings" gets me where I'm going! :)

LOL, that's what I call having a bad day. I like the humor in this piece because it shows the humanity of the moment when he was in trouble, and after the event when he is the brunt of their jokes.

Very nice writing, although that did sound llike a nasty accident. Fortunately he did not go over the cliff. I like te humour at the end about him having a pogo stick.

I love the way you described the whole bike disaster. I would feel uneasy in a chopper and embarrassed to have my friends give me a pogo stick and tell me to play in clover. Love the humor in this. Thank You for sharing.

I very much enjoyed the humour here, J, but gee maybe a little gentler terrain might be the thing.
Bicycles can be dangerous and especially when traversing those rugged bike trails.

For sure, a foot or two, he'd been airborne.
Thank goodness the photo shows a helmet was being worn. It seems like some risk-takers think if there's no pain, why do it again? But I like your humorous slant on it (he felt like a schmuck). Pogo sticks - that brings back memories of fourth or fifth grade.
