Free yacht trips still would cost gas and food. It would be nice not to thing of money and to live in the riches or lifestyles of wealth. Well thought poem. Nicely written. Good work :)

Nope - never paid a dime. All on his donor and never ever declared as a gift.
Thanks for the review.

I enjoyed this poetic "fling" Steve, a great romp which I'm not aufait with, but that doesn't really matter, I always enjoy well written poetry, and you always write well, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy.
I'm a little obsessed with the political news coming out of the US. Google Clarence Thomas and you will find plenty about his unethical acceptance of millions of dollars worth of gifts...

Haha, what a fun, but true poem, Steve.
I loved the last 2 lines. Your rhymes were
perfect. One never knows when something
will come back and. . . . The picture was a
perfect addition, too.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Hey, interesting things just keep happening in the US. Our veterans are homeless while the illegal immigrates are put up in high priced hotels. Thank you for sharing this well written poem with us.

I give you six stars for your super-yacht, and I agree with every word you wrote. I think Clarence and his wife are corrupt individuals. It's a shame that SCOTUS no longer sees this country as worthwhile to lead with honesty and dignity. Some try, but it does no good. Shirley

Shirley, many thanks for the kind review and the sixth shiny star - much appreciated. I have a few more short pieces about the US political scene brewing. Keep an eye out for them. I believe the next one will start, 'Donny's been a naughty boy...'

-Good artwork and nice presentation, Steve.
-You wrote a good poem about this situation.
-Effective imagery and rhyme.
-I like your line about he and his wife crying "Yippee!"
-A very good concluding verse.
-It is unbelievable that these things go on and nothing is done,
and he represents the "highest court in the land!"
-Thanks for writing about it.

More to come soon about other political issues in the US. From far away I look on in disbelief at some of the goings-on!

You are welcome, Steve, and thanks for sharing. You should come over here! Luckily, we live in a very good place in the northeast. It doesn't mean things don't happen, but it is a good place to be.

Oh my he thought he had the right to life, liberty, and a free super yatch- while he's tried to take basic rights away from others. Well written and impactful. I had forgotten this story, and your writing reminded me. Good work! :))

Thanks, Alex.
The real scandal is that the Supreme Court has no code of conduct. They can behave however they like with no fear of consequences.

I had to investigate what Scotus meant here Steve, and it seems you are referring to some back handed favours. There is a price to be paid for bending the rules and manipulating the system and there is much skulduggery in politics. Love the metre and rhymes here, the flow is magical, love Dolly x

Thanks, Dolly. It seems even those most directly affected don't always know what SCOTUS stands for...
A little scandal. The real scandal is that the Supreme Court Justices are elected for life AND they don't even have a code of ethics and there is no obvious way of removing them if they are shown to be corrupt.

A very amusing poem about Clarence getting no more, no less but a yacht for his birthday! A lovely gift and a sea house to sail the Deep! I didn't quite get what he's done to deserve this honor (lol). What is SCOTUS? Is a fantasy land? (smile).
Great rhymes, humor and just a delight to read. I am sadly out of sixes and cannot award one here, but consider it a virtual six.
Thank you for sharing - this was real fun.

Yep, very much a fantasy land! Supreme Court of The United States. To get the real point of the poem you will need to google Clarence Thomas (he's one of the all-powerful nine Justices) and see why he's been in the news lately.
Long story short - he gets millions of dollars worth of free travel and luxury holidays and you and I don't. We don't qualify!

This is a perfectly good poem, no errors, rhymes work well, scans well too; my only problem is that as a person from the other side of the world, I have no idea what SCOTUS is! Please elucidate. All the best, Julie L

Hi, Julie. Thanks for reviewing. I'm from your side of the world too, in case my FS name didn't give that away. However, I am a little obsessed with US politics, hence the poke in the eye for Justice Clarence Thomas for receiving millions of dollars of undeclared gifts from a billionaire donor. Corruption much?
Thomas is a Justice on the US Supreme Court. That's where SCOTUS comes in = Supreme Court of The United States.
Other related acronyms you may come across:
POTUS (President of...)
FLOTUS (First Lady of...)
I'm just starting a little series of poems around the incredible stuff going on in the good ol' US of A. Tomorrow's one will start 'Donny's been a naughty boy...'
😂

Thanks for that, Kiwi Steve. You'll certainly have plenty of material for your series. Cheers, Julie
