The rating is due to the flow of this poem. Parts of it are bumpy, while others are smooth. Also, some words seem as though they were thrown into the poem.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Thanks for the review - it must be years since I last got a three-star one, so I will treasure this.

What would have been really helpful is if you could say which parts were bump and which were smooth and also which words you think were simply thrown in.

I only say this because other reviewers have commented on the perfect meter so it would be good to know where you disagree with them.

I do see that this is your very first review for nearly two years so perhaps you are simply out of practice, although I notice your reviews are generally very short. If you like I can give you a few hints on how to make your reviews more detailed with a view to helping the writer out.

    Have a great day.

It seems
Steve you hit the nail one the head (just not deep enough Lol) I had to look up SCOTUS and it does seem this system is fraught with bribes and corruption, well what is new in this politically driven society we peasants try to navigate with ought our millions of kick backs. Don't worry is is alive and well here in Australia, Our premiew is called Teflon Dan as nothing sticks to him lol.

Cheers Chris

Thanks, Chris. There is something about the US system that encourages corruption. I won't even mention the fact that lawmakers are apparently bought and sold by mega-donors and the refusal to change gun laws because the National Rifle Association has so many representatives beholden to them.

Corruption like this does happen elsewhere but the US makes it easy!

Witty and wry commentary on corruption in SCOTUS--priceless punchline! I haven't heard of this particular incident, but he and his wife have been in the news as to outrageous conflict of interest.

Yep, Clarence and Ginny are an interesting pair and the fact that she is such a violent trump-supporter while her hubby sits on cases that involve his bad deeds should not go unnoticed.

Your poem and the accompanying picture are hilarious. You've taken a current news item, which could be upsetting to some, and turned it into a laughable joke. This should be printed on the editorial page of your local newspaper. Thanks for the evening humor.

Thank you for the kind words. More to come soon about the state of affairs in US politics. I watch on from afar in stunned disbelief!

Ha! Excellent poem telling us that the SCOTUS as well of the POTUS are not above the law. Though they act as if they are.

I enjoyed your poem. Thank you for posting.

This was a funny as hell poem. You managed to put a spin on this. It's sad that no one really is surprised when we find these things out. I wasn't sure who Clarence was until I read further. Then it hit me. Great job. Thank you for posting. Gretchen

From the reporting I've read over the last year, it sounds like Clarence is getting a lot more than a shiny super-yacht. And he and his wife talk freely about what is going on in "privacy" at the Supreme Court. He should not be a judge, and his wife has far overstepped her bounds.

Clever poem, and I love the image you've used here.

Many thanks, Pam. Truly he should stand down or at the very least recuse himself from certain cases. This latest revelation actually suggests criminal wrongdoing.

Ha, good one. Thomas has been a jurist on the Supreme Court for over 32 years, so a long time friend of 21 years, (which he used as an excuse not to report it) who also takes you on luxurious vacations is a blatant conflict of interest. He made that friendship ten years after he was appointed to the SCOTUS.

Neat graphic and a much enjoyed bit of satire.

Absolutely gobsmacking that SCOTUS has no code of conduct. I've been following some of the outrage on Twitter from folks in much lower level positions detailing the rigmarole they have to go through if they want to accept even very small gifts.

    Would I mute you? never!
Do you get notified of my posts. Yes, I think so - I just haven't been posting much lately.
SCOTUS = Supreme Court of The United States. Clarence is one of the Justices, although right now I hope he's thinking about being a "former" Justice!
    Love you too!
Keep your eyes open for more silly stuff about US politics. There's this guy called Donald Trump - have you heard of him?
When I write my book of 'Reviews I have Received' yours will be at the front.

Which reminds me of this poem - not mine, but I love it...

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold:?
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the presence in the room he said,
"What writest thou?"?The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered, "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,"
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still; and said, "I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men."

The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blest,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.

Hi, Steve

Do as I say, not as I do...that's about the size of this so called judge's idea of what's right...You did a good job here, Steve...thanks for sharing...
Warmly,
Victoria

Many thanks, Victoria. Both he and his wife deserve all the criticism coming his way. There is little doubt in my mind he is corrupt and it is a tragedy that these Justices are appointed for life and do not have any code of behaviour that they must adhere to.

You're very welcome, Steve, it was my pleasure!

Exactly, They are no better, morally, than any other people. I see no reason why they should be appointed for life...Clarence and his wife are using their positions for their own political ideals...I have no respect for either of them, and as time goes on they are showing us that some kind of code f be ethics is seriously needed...
    Take Care.
