Despite this all being true, you still use that writer's talent to convey the atmosphere. I could feel the anxiety and uncertainty, as well as the underlying determination. Then, we end with the rain reflecting the tears, there to lend the firefighters a helping hand.

I'm glad to hear things have ended up calmer.

I have just returned from another family visit, and had no time to review the last few days, so I'm far behind. I'm so happy to learn that your nightmare is over, Ulla. I can't imagine standing there watching the flames make their way toward you. You've written this up very well. I could feel the heat and I could feel the rain. What a relief!

Thank you so much, Judy and for the lovely recognition. Those five days were a nightmare to all of us. So much land is now black and burned to charcoal. But we all survived, although almost 3000 were evacuated from various small villages. My village was spared in the last minute. Thanks so much again. Ulla:)))

Oh, my gosh, Ulla, I'm so sorry for everything you and your neighbors have been through over the last six days. Usually, someone on Fanstory says someone about such misfortune, but I hadn't seen a word about it. I'm so glad the rains finally came in time to save your home!

Ulla,
I'm so glad you're ok. What an ordeal!!
I'm glad rain finally came to your town. I really believe people's prayers were answered!
I hope you get lots of sleep in the coming days, so you can continue writing, something you are really good at. I wanted to make positive comments on how well you wrote this story, but I thought it inappropriate, considering the circumstances.
Stay safe.
Blessings, Ulla.
Stay safe and return soon.

Thank you for sharing this, Ulla! I hope you got good rest afterwards! Praise God for the rain! I'm sure you wanted the welcome rescue of rain much sooner. You kept us in suspense as you described the events. You are such a wonderful neighbor to care for your elderly neighbors and stay back in concern for them!

Thank you so much, Helen..yes it was a scare we could all have been without. So much land has been destroyed and so many livelihoods have been wrecked. At this moment we just feel blessed that nobody came to any harm. Thanks again. Ulla:)))

A very good story. An easy read that has a fine pace and good flow. I can see you watching the fire grow near as the planes fight to contain the blaze.
Happy the ski opened, and water fell.
Thank you!

Hello Ulla,
All's well that ends well!
You have BEAUTIFULLY depicted a Five Day Nightmare ending in the pleasant rain and its side effects!
Impressive phraseology; CAPTIVATING flow throughout from the very beginning up to the end, and just like LIVE DESCRIPTION of scenes and situations engulfed by fire-flames.
Flawless, and Interesting!
Undoubtedly, you are a skilled writer!!

Thank you so much Rhaguvir, bfor a lovely review and stars. It was a frightening time, but for now we're okay. I hope it will stay that way. The danger is that it's still very warm here. Ulla:))

This was a tense read, thank goodness no one was hurt, the story read fine and without any errors noted, please get your rest, and hopefully those brave firemen will prevail.

I thought this was a great little post that articulates all the anxiety you feel in this kind of situation. You put us right there with you, watching the smoke and the flames reach from over the hill, wondering whether or not to leave your home. We really get that tug of war between saving yourself and having that need to stay and see what will happen to your home. and also the concern for the elderly neighbors. Actually, I think you have a great theme and plot for a novel here if you want to expand it. estory

Thank you so much, estory, for a lovely review and stars. This is still too raw to be even thinking about making a it story out of my this. I need some distance to it all. Thanks so much again. Ulla:)))

A well written piece that puts the reader in the middle of the action. Some Notes:

-A most frightful experience, no doubt.

-The second paragraph paints an eerie portrait that adds to the already stressful tension.

-"But that morning" should be added to the line ending "far from us".

-Good thing the rain came to help douse the flames.
