This must have been quite a harrowing experience. Some Notes:

-"by product" should be byproduct,

-A raging wildfire would be a scary situation to endure.

-Watching those choppers draw water out of the pool would be a fascinating sight to behold.

-Nature is totally unpredictable and can create all the havoc it desires to. There is very little people can do to prevent these occurrences.

-Lightning is one of the most hazardous of nature's furies.

It looks like you're going to be in this dilemma for a while, Ulla. Unfortunately. But your writing does sound as if you're hopeful. Hang in there, kid. :))

The Fisherman won't be [here]this week either.

Pobrecita y pobrecitos bomberos. I watched the video...looks so scary and hard to do. I never seen flames so red and so much smoke. I pray you and the rest will be safe. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for sharing this. I understand how things can happen and creating confusion and fright. I know if I was in your situation, I would be afraid. I wish I could see the ash covering everything so I can understand the aftermath of this. Please stay safe and thanks again for sharing.

Thank you so very much. It's been a hard week for all of us. I have hardly slept. Of confusion there's been none. The flames told their own story. I will try to get some pictures to post when we have access again. Thanks so much again. Ulla:)))

This is some incredible reporting on your situation, Ulla. I hope you aren't feeling trapped where you are rather than apprehensive and astounded as we all are reading of this. Prayers for you.

Thanks a lot Bill, and for your support. The danger of being trapped is real, choosing the right moment to leave. I'm writing a final update which will be out tomorrow answering all your questions. Thanks again for thinking of me. Ulla:)))

Ulla,
I pray this horror ends well, and soon. I'm so glad you're ok! Please keep us posted.
Stay safe and positive, Ulla.
One thing I remember about Salamanca, is that almost everyone had a dog. And they were loved and well-cared for.
I'm sure yours are too.
You'll be ok, Ulla. Hugs,
Your friend always,
Cindyð???

Your hour by hour account of the tensions and frustrations and downright fears and anxieties of being in the middle of uncontrolled wildfires is a pretty strong post on its own merits. I think you really captured the feel of the moment and put us right there with you as the choppers roar overhead and the firetrucks hell down the streets. and the ash falling all over everything. Nice attention to detail makes the post come alive. estory

Thank you so so much for a great review. I'm so glad you think I captured the agony we've all lived through. A nightmare that only ended last night. I will be posting a last update which will see the end of a five day nightmare. I am so very tired. Ulla:)))

This was a fine piece of journastic writing. It was almost like being there, and I did not want to be there. When I was in California recentlyi could see the aftermath of the 2018 fires there and saw some of the building work being done to store normality some three and a half years afterthe event.

I hope you emerge from this lot unscathed. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you so much, Jim. I'm exhausted. This nightmare only stopped around 11pm last night. I will post one final update tomorrow or Saturday. One good thing about this is that our houses, up here in the mountains, are traditionally built of natural stone, and the walls are 2 feet deep. It's very difficult for them burn. But everything else burns around them, hence the evacuation of people. Yes it will take years for things to come back to some kind of normality. Thanks again. Ulla:)))

How awful! I hope it's stopped before it reaches you. Stay vigilant and ready to go on a moment's notice. Thanks for keeping us posted. Where are the people evacuated being taken?

Thank you so much, Yvonne.. It's not been a happy time. My car is packed, and I'm ready to go at a moment's notice. People are going to family, friends or they are going to centers that has been set up especially for this kind of situation. Thanks again. Ulla:)))
