Ulla, my heart goes out to you. Is there ever anything more terrifying than to lose a child--even temporarily? I felt so involved and gripped by the situation. You wrote this in a way that lead up to the conclusion which gave us all a big sigh of relief. Well written, my friend, Giddy

Awe, Dear Friend, thank you so much for your heartfelt review and lovely stars. Yes, It was conceivable one of the worst ten hours I ever went through not knowing what was to happen to my daughter. The plane took me further and further away, and there was nothing I could do. Thank goodness it all ended well, and I have to say that Amelie and the MP's had had a ball. Quite a novelty it was for both parties. I was so angry with Tommy, though. Thank so much again, Giddy. A big hug. Ulla xx

Woo Hoo Ulla this is a grand story and funny as well as a bit frightening! I don't even know what I would say to a husband who came up with this alternative to being there for yal's daughter. Well written and constructed.

Hope you are well and staying safe! xoxo Kiwi

LOL! I don't think Tommy should have felt so bad. It's not what he did wrong but have creatively he fixed it that counts. Think of it. She had the United States Military to pick her up at school. LOL! I love it.

I thought it was an interesting little story that illustrates how members of a family need to work together to navigate the world. There's all these different demands on different members, to do their jobs, to go to school, to pick up the kids; and sometimes it's hard to get everything done. You have to get creative sometimes to make it all work out, and your story shows that in humorous terms. estory

Thank you so much, estory. Yes, sometimes the logistics of it all became a bit difficult. But this was one of the extremes. Thanks a lot for a great review. Ulla:)))

I can imagine the pain and worry you went through unable to touch bases with anyone to pick your daughter up from school.
It was his responsibility to take care of the situation. I think he did a splendid job. LOL I'm sure your daughter enjoyed it too. Well done, Ulla. Nancy:)

Thank you so much, Nancy, no, it was not one of my best days and then for so many hours not knowing what had happened to my poor daughter. It was such a relief to learn that everything ended well. Ulla:)))

I can understand this. There have been times when the M.P. was at our rescue too. Good relief for you, Ulla. So you were a flight attendant. I had a friend who lost his daughter in a plane crash. She also was a flight hostess as well. Best to you, Ula.

I'm so sorry for your friend's loss. That's terrible.
I flew for twenty years, and had a couple of emergencies, but I'm still here, and nobody died in any of them, thank goodness.
Thanks a lot for a great review. Ulla:)))

When both parents are that sort of job it must be very difficult ensuring child minding is taken care of and Tommy couldn't cry off any more than you could. The writing captured your worry very wel. I found it a gripping short tale.

Ha, ha, ha is this for real? I laugh reading these lines too:) ""Of course, we can understand your worry and anger. Tommy was in the wrong, and he knows it. But when he couldn't get hold of anybody he contacted the Military Police who went to pick up Amelie two hours after the school's closing time. They then took Amelie back to the Navy base where they entertained her until we finally showed up.

"You're kidding me, aren't you? Are you saying the MPs fetched her up from school?" Now it was my turn to laugh. "So where is Tommy?

"Oh, he's just come on shore and heading home with his tail between his legs."

"As he should be. Oh, Alice, I can't believe the MPs picked her up, and you can't believe how relieved I am. I can sleep in peace now." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings and the contest. This is one of the best entries:)

Thanks a lot Iza, no, I kid you not. When Tommy couldn't get hold.of anyone, he asked the MPs to pick her up. She was absolutely delighted and the school astonished. I assure you, it was never forgotten. The story tells the rest. Thanks fo an engaged review. Ulla:)))

I can imagine how traumatizing that must have been for you! I'm glad your husband was able to get hold of his mother to pick her up after the MP's picked up your daughter. I'll bet they'll tell that story at her wedding!
good luck in the contest.

After finding out she wasn't in any trouble, I bet she was quite the star of school. What an honor to be picked up and entertained by the MPs. And you told the story very well.

Hugs, Carol
