I'm so sorry to hear your mother passed, and sorry for your loss. Older people experience bone loss, muscle loss, and they lose their balance. But anyone, any age would suffer in minus fifty degrees weather. It's good you were able to help your mother that day. Best wishes in the contest.

That is incredibly cold. I would die in that weather. I have never been anywhere that is below ten degrees much less negative fifty. Wish you the best in the contest.

Slipping on ice can cause fractures and can be a real danger, even more so for the elderly or infirm. Lucky she didn't suffer a fracture. Fortunately, there are certain precautions you can take to avoid any potential injury caused by falling while walking on ice. I liked the imagery you have created in your well-written poetry.
