What a fine writer you are Yvonne. This is a classic poem. It has everything from a very smooth flow, to perfectly manicured tetrametric stanzas and abab rhyming, plus a very beautiful use of poetic, descriptive language. Well done, Yvonne, blessings Roy

Yes this beautiful poem really does capture the seasonal activity going on right now as Winter beckons 'Winter's siege'- the language here is exquisite - a treat for any wordsmith !

This is a very pleasant autumnal piece of alternately rhyming iambic tetrameter. It may be a pronunciation thing but for me the metre was causing an unnatural stress on the final syllable of foliage where I would stress only the first syllable. I might have been tempted to treat foliage as a two syllable word fol-yage and substitute 'tumbles' for falls:
'When foliage tumbles to the ground.'
